Coco Gauff's Gear

AEROSPEED

New User
Hello tennis fans, I had trouble trying to find what string that Coco Gauff uses, and also not really sure what racket she uses at the moment. My guess is the Head Lynx tour from photos during the AO2020, but I want to know if anybody is an insider and may know. Thanks for responding to this thread if you do!

PT339.2 on the racket side.

I saw her live here in Linz WTA Final last year. She is real deal.
I thought she was using retail Speed MP.

I know as I've red all your posts :)
Still, different lay-up baked in same mold makes very different racquet, no?

Definitely. The layup is what defines the feel, the balance, feedback, softness...
However, the mold also plays a big role. So, it feels very different from the PT57A, but also different from the TGT339.

I guess the mold plays the big part in how the racquet deforms at impact...
That is the greatest TT name I have ever seen. I laugh every time I see it. You got away with murder on that one. Again I wish I had thought of it. Well done. I do t think even the old Mike Hunt compares cause it has nothing to do with tennis. You really nailed it.

Would the flex of a racquet be determined by the mold or the layup?
Both.
My PT313.2 (TK313 mold) are a 21..5mm beam, radical throat, 95sq in identical head and string pattern as the PT630. It has the PT57A2 layup. It is stiffer than the PT630 and measures 60-61RA strung
My PT57A (TK57A mold) are 20mm beam, 95 sq in, same layup (PT57A2) but softer and measure 56-57RA
My PT334.1 (TK334 mold) is a 21mm beam, 99 sq in, measure 59RA
My PT339.2 (TK339 mold) is a 23mm beam, 100 sq in, 62RA

Unfortunately the speed she actually uses is far from the retail speed we can buy today.
"Far" -- absolutely not. The retail TGK339 layup is excellent and as you can see very close flex.
It is definitely different, especially for someone like her.

Have you tried the PT339.2 to make such claims?

i tend to avoid actively engaging in the forums, too many people pretend to know everything. When in fact they know very little and make baseless claims by looking at photos on the net or on tv.

I now own all the 339 variations.

PT339.1 (thanks for someone awesome for confirming)

pt339.2

TGK339.1/ .2
TGT339.1 and .2.

All great frames including the retail offering.

Watching her at the French in her match against Konta. She switched to 18x20. I’m guessing same racquet.

PT339, could be .1 or .2 with 18x20
Will find out
Johnny Mac was talking about her making equipment changes but didn’t give any specifics. I paused my TV before a return and thought that it looked dense for a 16x19. Counted and definitely 18x20. Wonder if she’ll stick with it going forward. Interested whether .1 or .2. Thanks.

OK, confirmed. PT339.2 in 18x20 pattern.
Same as her usual, just denser pattern
PT339.2 = TK339 with the PT57A layup.

Coincidentally, I bought a 360+ Speed Pro myself last week. Really nice stick so far.
I really like what Head is doing with the 360+ line. The Extreme Tour has a dense 16x19 and some nice hoop flex despite the 65 RA. Along with the Gravity and the Speed these imo are 2020 sleeper frames that should get the attention they deserve.

That looks like a really open 18x20 a la the 100p. There doesn't appear to be any condensing of the mains around the sweet spot.
The Speed Pro is a pretty open 18x20, even slightly more open In the crosses than the Gravity Pro. I haven’t hit with the 100p to compare it, but I’m guessing they are pretty close.

it is the same mold and same drill pattern as the Speed pro

I don't know what all those codes mean.. is she using an oversize hoop? Watching her doubles right now and her racquet head looks much larger than any of the three other players.

It’s a 100. The white paint may make it look larger.

Same mold as the retail Speed 100 sq in (TK339).

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I love you rackeholics. I wish I was as knowledgeable .. I have been a member of this site for years.
I lack a great understanding of the pro codes and strings. I've not really invested a lot of time trying to understand strings. I've always just used the same Prince Multi I've used every year since I got back into league play.

Problem is.. this is the first year I've played so little tennis. There should be a couple warmer days before it gets full-on cold in the *******.. Hopefully I can get a good hit in.
But back to Coco.. sometimes her racquet, and it must just be an illusion on tv, looks weirdly shape.. like a very very acute elliptical shape. Much more than just saying oval. But I'm sure it's just the all white hoop.

I've noticed a lot of the Speed 360+ rackets are starting to incorporate more black in the grommets and in the bumper guards than when they first came out with that cosmetic.
