College Football 2023-24

How is it possible that USC, member of a Power 5 conference and historical football power, has a good high school caliber defense? The talent on that side of the ball is subpar and the coaching may be even worse. Utah is going to give them all they can handle and then they get UW, Oregon back to back. They could easily go into the UCLA match up with 4 losses. They better focus on the D line for next year's recruiting.

Another analytics head scratcher from Lanning and Oregon. Being a Chargers fan, I feel your pain, Ducks fans. :)

Tar Heels looking solid. Should have an easy 3 weeks before the Clemson and Duke games. Would love to see Mac Brown back in the CFP.

Coach Prime and Colorado get outcoached again. 17 penalties and D coaches couldn't even get the correct number of players on the field. Tough schedule ahead and the Buffs might not even make Bowl eligibility.

This is a fun year for college football. The top 14-15 is really solid and Georgia doesn't look as unbeatable as the previous 2 years.

Ol’ boy Lincoln Riley needs to pry the absolute best DC possible away from wherever, because he just doesn’t prioritize that side of the ball. USC’s alums will write the check.

I'm sure the $$ will be flowing. :) It' gonna get interesting, as it's not in USC's west coast/Pac 12 DNA to even play defense. :) Moving to the Big 10 and cold weather games will require more of a focus on D, so they better get to work getting the middle west corn-feds and the treadmill of O and D line talent that runs from Texas to FL in the South. Pac 12 O and D lines have historically been destroyed over the last 20+ years by the SEC/Big 10/Big 12 and even the ACC.

Reading the Big 10 schedules next year is just f***ing weird.

They focused on defense when Pete was there.

Washington was a 28.5-pt home favorite to ASU, just needed a 90-yd pick-6 on 4th down to take the 12-7 lead with 8 left.

You sure killed that plan!
Right?! I grew up in VA and am happy to see UVA get something positive out of a terrible season. Horrible loss for UNC. Even if they run the table the rest of the way, they’ll be the 1 loss team with the worst loss, by far.

Texas got lucky as sh*t again.

OU didn't.

UGA survived.

LSU/Bama tied at 21 at half.

35-28 Wash over USC, finally half.

Big/emotional win by Michigan over Penn State today. Have not followed the stealing signals scandal that much. But if true, 3 games where Harbaugh can't be on the sidelines doesn't sound too bad. Should beat Maryland and go into the Ohio State game undefeated.

Top five teams in the country right now, in order:
1) UGA
2) Michigan / Ohio State
3 ) Oregon / Washington
4) Everyone else and it's a bit of a gap

UGA rounding into championship form...again
Yep. Same for Bama. Looking better every week. Oregon and Washington look great but I still need to see their defenses hold up against an SEC school in the playoffs…it’s been a long time, so I’m skeptical. If Michigan is going to break through, it won’t get better than this season. Bama and UGA reloading, Texas and Florida St rising again. Dabo will be forced to use the portal. I’m loving the semi-parity. It really hasn’t been like this since the late 80’s/early 90’s.

Wow, you really went out on a limb there.
My goal is to be correct, not controversial. My controversial take is that bama and the rest of the SEC is MUCH worse than the top five I listed. LSU and Tennessee haven't deserved a top 20 ranking all season which means bama hasn't really beaten anyone legitimate and that two score Texas loss keeps looking worse and worse. Georgia shouldn't have any trouble getting to the CFP with ease and a probable 1 or 2 ranking.

I'll be curious to see FSU next year if they can sustain their success with a fairly heavy reliance on the transfer portal. That alone could get Dabo to change.

Louisville won a tough one against Miami. Will play Florida State in A.C.C championship. If they beat UK first, then Florida State for conference title, do you think 12-1 is good enough to get them in playoffs? That one loss was against Pitt. One of the worst teams in the A.C.C

If they win out they have a very strong case though the committee will probably go for a bigger undeserving name.

Depends on the rest of the field. What the ACC has against it is the fact that it's the weakest of the major conferences. SEC, then Big 10, then PAC 12, then Texas , I mean Big 12, then ACC. If there are a bunch of two loss teams then yes Louisville can make it, if you're talking about stacking Louisville up against 12-1 or 13-1 teams from better conferences then no.
