Qualifying started today and continues through Monday. Interesting match tomorrow-Redlicki brothers have to play each other at 10am. Older bro beat Tommy Paul to win one of the Winston futures in June. Younger bro was NCAA SFist and SFist at Tulsa futures.

Other college players remaining in Qualifier: Alex Rybakov who has won a couple Futures this summer and now is in ATP top 500 (488), Peter Kobelt OSU grad, Kirchheimer (Nwestern), Oliver Crawford of FL who will be playing former Cavalier Ritschard, Cornell rising soph Ayeni playing UGA's Reinberg, and former Cavalier Altamarino playing USC's Logan Smith

Main draw may include some players who made an early exit from Wimbledon. Here are some of the names from the list of MD direct entries subject to change:
Aragone, JC (UVA), Baghdatis, Marcos, Escobedo, Ernesto, Eubanks, Chris (GT), Fratangelo, Bjorn,
Jung, Jason (Mich), King, Darian, King, Evan (Mich), King, Kevin (GT), Klahn, Bradley (Stanford), Krueger, Mitchell, Opelka, Reilly, Paul, Tommy, Sarkissian, Alexander (Pepperdine), Sela, Dudi, Smyczek, Tim
Young, Donald, Fawcett, Tom (WC) Sorry for reverse order of names-pulled from website

MD starting Tues should be livestreamed not sure about Quali. If Wimbledon gets boring, might be worth watching some of this tourney. Will be interesting to see how the college guys play vs the pros.

That's a great lineup of players, most of whom have lots of atp Tour levels matches and drive over their belts.

Where in Winnetka is the event played?

Martin beat Michael 7-6, 6-2, they are also playing doubles together.
Martin went past his brother in tennis level sometime during college careers. maybe UCLA has better coaching ??? LOL. hard to believe those guys in UCLA do any real coaching over there.

Jason Jung who was the last lucky loser in Wimbledon last week is playing Thai K of UVA now. Upcoming matches include Darian King vs Donald Young which should be entertaining. Also Fawcett plays Karue Sell for a PAC 12 battle. Michigan is well represented with Evan King playing too, and to round out the 3 "wise men" we have Kevin King too in the draw.

WC Martin Joyce played close with Escobedo (ATP 205) yesterday- MJ won the 1st set, lost in 2nd set TB before EE pulled away in the 3rd. Even guys who played lower in the line up of top schools are showing they can compete with guys in the top 200. Jason Jung is 155, so it will be interesting to see how the current or recently graduated players play against him. Thai has been broken once in 1st set...

Good luck Jason, Top 100 is just so close. No more qualifying for majors, and maybe no more challengers ?
I just watched the replay of Jung vs Altamirano. Jason’s game has improved in every aspect compared to the futures match against Sarkissian 3 years ago. He is hitting harder. His shot selection is better. His serve is much better. He is much more aggressive looking to create the opportunities to come forward to end the point.

Collin has lost the long hair. :)

I saw the live stream of the match.

Some things I noticed:
- Jason took the ball earlier and seemed to gain control of the baseline exchanges more. He also did a good job of coming to the net to finish points.
- Jason had a better serving day and more reliable first serve.

WHO is this Russian dude he lost to ?? the guy is ranked outside of 200. and he is like 23 years old. This Russian isn't exactly next Gen guy. Is he real deal that will shoot up to top 50 or is he just a flash in the pan ??

He won Wichita ITF last week. You might want to take a close look at those results.
