Yes, it’s Isner’s serve so I’d cut him some slack but watching the match I felt he was sometimes giving away his return position a bit too early as Isner was setting up to serve. I get that returning his serve is pretty much like a soccer goalie guessing on a PK and going but maybe that can improve the more he sees the big serversWith more pro experience I think he wins that type of match more in a year or so. To get better returning the Isner type serve has to be done in more live match situations like last night.
Agree 100% on the WC's. At the very least Ben should get them into the rest of the US tour stops. Citi, Cinci, Winston-Salem, San Diego.
He'll never make the top 80.Wolf beats Shapo and is up to #90 in the world
He'll never make the top 80.
when is Bob going to post some Anti-Wolf venom? He'll never make the top 80.

wolf vs rune should be interesting
no lack of self-confidence or swag on that court
hopefully they can play. Rain is coming
I only saw game or two of this match when I had left TV on after Citi. I was impressed with how Rinky fought off 3 breakpoints on his serve early in 2nd playing world #1. Seems like he has bright future.Hijikata is playing against the World #1 on Stadium court in a main tour event and he has on a Nike hat, a no name grey t-shirt, Lululemon shorts, Fila socks and Yones shoes. Go to a Futures or some Challengers and you'll see players in similar mis-matched kits. It shows how tough it is for some of these players trying to work their way up the rankings.
Agree, don't think he'll be in mis-matched kits for long. He competes well and it will hopefully pay off.I only saw game or two of this match when I had left TV on after Citi. Lululemon apparel is quite expensive, and not many people can afford it.
I mean we do have to save some extra, or skimp on Starbucks here and there to afford it, or perhaps get lucky on the stock market. But I agree it is doablebob, you're good fun on these forums, but you're making Lululemon sound like Versace here
even some of us commoners can afford Lululemon

I enjoy watching the Equinox exercisers from my box seat.Lot of people with Equinox gym membership wear Lululemon. That's what I noticed when I go to Equinox. The only reason I am member at Equinox is because my employer subsidize almost 80% of the membership cost and that I can cancel the membership at anytime. And I wear $4.90 Uniqlo short and shirt to Equinox gym membership
^^ that's gold. As an added bonus only some get the jokeI enjoy watching the Equinox exercisers from my box seat.
I am back home after watching the match between Juncheng Shang (aka Jerry Shang) and Derrick Chen. Jerry Shang is the current #1 ITF tennis player at the age of 16 years old. He has good ground strokes and smart player but this dude absolutely has ZERO weapons to hurt anyone. His serve is so average, when he serves, he is about 1/2 foot off the ground which is not much of a jump. He is more a defensive player. Physically, he doesn't look intimidating to me. He looks kind of skinny at 5 feet 9 inches, I think he should spend more time in the gym.
Shang reminds me of another player who won the 2018 FO Junior champ, Jason Tseng. Tseng was the #1 Junior player in the world but he is currently ranked 286th. Shang probably has reached his highest potential, IMO.
While I was there watching tennis matches, I also got to talk to several college tennis coaches and I ask them "what is the probability that you will give someone a full tennis scholarship at your school?" The answer is universally "almost never". I then asked "what is the probably that you will give Shang a full ride at your school?" The answer is almost universally "Maybe". I was very surprised by the response that they said "maybe" to the #1 ITF Junior player.
Shang is not 17. He's "allegedly" an age cheat. Supposedly was banned from Junior USTA for it in 2018 (summer, I think). Still a good player, though.let's stop making fun of bob for Lululemon being an exclusive brand
and instead i'd like to once again make fun of him for these comments directed at Juncheng Shang
Shang just won the Lexington CH, is up to 241 in the world at the age of 17
along the way in Lexington, he gave Dostanic a bagel, took down a red hot Kovacevic, and routined world #114 Gomez 4,4 in the final
so, you know, maybe some of those college coaches would want him on their team after all - might be worth a full scholarship and a pair of Lululemons from a booster
next up on the CH circuit is Chicago, where Gomez / Kova / Shelton are all in the same interesting section

I saw that Kova and Shelton will play each other for the 3rd time this summer in the 2nd rd provided they win their 1st rounds. Tennys Sandgren (Tenn) is back to playing Challengers-actually the Qualis of Chicago Challenger. Interesting matchups of former teammates in Chicago: Evan Zhu vs Keegan Smith UCLA in Q2s, Donstanic vs Holt USC in Q2s (did Holt graduate b4 Dostanic started?) A former MM player is in Chicago Qualis-Henry Patten of UNC-Asheville. He is up to 140 in dubs (played Wimbledon), 487 singles. I read that after the 4th week of results, Kovacevic is still in the lead for the US Open Wild card with Evan Zhu in 2nd place-the winner will be the player with best 3 results over a 5 week period. https://www.tennis-tourtalk.com/93632/kovacevic-krueger-continue-to-lead-us-open-wild-card-challengenext up on the CH circuit is Chicago, where Gomez / Kova / Shelton are all in the same interesting section

At the Qualis for National Open in Montreal, Diallo of Kentucky beat Duckworth ATP #59. Unfortunately he lost his 2nd rd Qualis. He was the only one of 6 Canadians in Qualis to win a round. Quite a feat for college players to get in 1000 Qualis (Draxl got in too on WC but lost). Galarneau (NC State alumni) received wC into MD
It was the magical season when USC won ITA indoors, with both Holt and Dostanic playing, along with Cukierman, Smith, Bulis, and Frye@jcgatennismom -- Dostanic was a freshman when Holt was a senior so they had one year at teammates.
Please give a source because there is absolutely nothing of this online.Shang is not 17. He's "allegedly" an age cheat. Supposedly was banned from Junior USTA for it in 2018 (summer, I think). Still a good player, though.

Or stop making up lies to try and devalue a young kids hard work.

I went back and forth between thinking it didn’t even deserve a reply and saying exactly what you said
frankly he looks as young as he’s reported to be
chalk up unsubstantiated claims to jealousy
Well, nobody knew the severity of Aaron Hernandez's criminal offense while he was at UF until many years after he left Gainesville, under Urban Meyer watch. This kid is from Communist China so you don't know if the communist doctored the birth certificate. Anything goes in China. Just saying.
Does the ITF or USTA publish the suspension of a player or is that under the "privacy" act?
Source: Trust me broAnd we all know that if it's not online, then it didn't happen lol.
I don't care if you don't believe me. Just checked with my source, who said it was a 6 month ban.
Thing is, he's still a good player, even if he is 19 or 20.
an honest question. If 'the communist doctored the birth certificate' - how would ITF/USTA ever find out/prove what his real age is so they could suspend him? I'm really interested in what you think the logic here is[..] This kid is from Communist China so you don't know if the communist doctored the birth certificate. Anything goes in China. Just saying.

don't they also need to get front row seats for Bob....so he can brag about his great seats?by policy, they only have to tell the Pope and jrtennisparent
zink and goldhoff played an almost flawless match in the doubles final in decaturZink has won 4 consecutive doubles titles over the past 6 weeks (3 different partners ...2 of the 4 were with George Goldhoff)
