Comfortable, Durable set-up

I am currently using a set-up consisting of PSGD 16 @ 59 on the mains and Big Ace 16 @ 55 on the crosses. I love it, except it only gives me around 4-6 hours of play before the PSGD is toast. I tried putting Big Ace on the mains and lowering the tension to 57-53 except that hurt my arm. Does anyone have an idea for a set-up in which i could get some of the playability of my original set-up with the durability of a "poly" set-up

I would try big ace 17 on the mains at 55lbs., and psgd 16 on the crosses at 59lbs. Just reverse it, but use a 17g for the poly.

I'd actually try the Big Ace on the Mains at 53 lbs and string the PSGD crosses at 55.

Another option would be to try a Big Ace/Maxim Touch hybrid - the multifilament on the crosses will soften the string bed a bit more than the PSGD. You can even buy pre-made sets, marketed as Matrix Hybrid.

hmm well, i currently have quite a stock of 16 gauge so i'd prefer to use that if possible and i know its completely ridiculous but every 17g poly i've ever used has snapped on me from a mishit or something similar, of course i did mishit a bit more back then but still i'd like to avoid that if possible.

Is there something more of a middle ground, maybe a completley different string, something with more durability than synthetic gut but with some qualitites of a poly?

I agree with the 53/55. That is my current setup though Blue Gear / MT hybrid

try head rip control 16 on the mains and psgd on the crosses. Or, use psgd on the mains and something softer on the crosses, like tnt fat core so that the crosses won't cut into the mains as sharply or quickly as poly crosses.

If you want to keep that something mains and poly crosses, then use something different other than PSGD. There's Forten Sweet, Pro Supex Synthetic Gut Titan, or you could go with a multifilament with string savers.
