Comfortable Shoes

#1
Hi,

My son has complained about his feet hurting after being on the court past an hour. I'm looking for a more comfortable shoe for him. He's only 9 and I don't want it to prolong the pain.

Shoes he has tried are the following:

Nike Cage
Babalot Propulse
Adidas Barricade

Thank you

@Paul Y,

This video might help, as has some of our favorite comfortable shoes as of right now:

Also, is he wearing adult shoes or Junior Shoes? Can he fit into adult shoes? If he is wearing junior shoes, he might need to transition to adult shoes.

Also, what sort of pain is he experiencing? Underfoot? at the toes? He might need to find a shoe with more midsole cushioning or a shoe that doesn't have the tendency to provide toe jamming, or possibly he needs a wider or more narrow option.

But we can definitely try and help you find a better shoe for your son!

He's currently wearing adult Nike Cages. He says it's midfoot pain and not his toes. We tend to buy half a size bigger so his foot can slide a little to prevent toe jamming as he likes to slide on hard court.

Hmmm, some of our playtesters had similar pain because the shoes are slightly snug in terms of width.

As far as the toe jam, you might be able to look up some lacing guides on different ways to lace up the shoe and avoid it. We don't always recommend changing sizes as the width may then be compromised.

Have you guys tried the Asics Solution Speed FF or the Asics Gel Court FF? The Gel Court FF is one of our favorite shoes, but it won't be the most durable option. The Asics Gel Resolution 7 is also one of our favorites around here too and is more durable!

KSwiss also offers some very comfortable shoes -- the HyperCourt Express is very comfortable and the Ultrashot offers a bit higher level of performance.

Nike Vapor X and the Prestige (similar to the Vapor 9.5) are going to be light and fairly comfortable.

The Head Sprint Pro 2.0 could be a good option too, it is similar to a Vapor.

Also, we have free returns on unworn shoes so you guys could order a couple pairs, try them on off the court and see what works best for you.

Hope some of this helps!

Thank you for you're help. One other question I have is should I think about inserts for the shoes if it's wearing down quickly?
@Paul Y,

After market insoles are always a good idea! Especially if he has any issues with his arch! A bunch of us (and a lot of the pros) utilize after market insoles and they make a huge difference in comfort!

I love the Asics Solution speed FF. It is so comfortable and speedy on the court. I had heel pain when i purchased it and it went away after wearing this shoe.
