comfortable with my strokes

hey, i played a match today and lost because i didnt have any confidence in my strokes. it always happens when i play someone that i can beat. when i play someone that i cant beat i always play well. what kind of drills should i do to get more comfortable with my strokes

That's exactly how I am, when I'm at the net, I feel good about my strokes and my ability to place the ball, but as soon as I have to hit a groundie, I freak out and start thinking about all the stuff I could do wrong... I don't really know why, other than I do frequently do stuff wrong.

It is all about being mentally tough. You are probably putting too much pressure on yourself and getting tight. You play well against someone you think you can't beat because you have no pressure to win. The biggest difference between a top 10 player and someone who is 500 is mostly mental. Are you the kind of person who wants to play in front of other people on the court or golf course? Do you hate to tee off in front of other people or pass through another group because you get nervous? Or are you the one who loves it to show them that you got game? It is the same thing.

Getting mental toughness and the ability to handle pressure only comes with experience unfortunately.

I tend to play worse when I play someone I feel confident against and I know I can beat. I usually end up barely squeaking by.
