Say you had to face Nadal on clay. Would you take a 'slightly above average generic ATP two-handed backhand' (let's say Troicki's, or Bedene's or Millman's) over Thiem's backhand?
Compared to the average two-handed backhand, is Thiem's backhand a weakness against Nadal?

I think his forehand is a way bigger problem than his backhand.

HIs one-handed backhand is indeed a weakness against Ralph on clay. Thiem will have to wait until Nadal is 35-36 to win RG, and Nadal is only 32. Nadal destroyed Thiem in straigth sets at RG 2014, RG 2017 and RG 2018. In other words, Nadal is 9-0 in sets against Thiem at RG. Subsequently, Nadal will win at least 3 more RG titles.

Don't forget that clay is the most physically demanding surface,
Nadal will be turning 33 from 32, not 23 from 22..
This year raindal was lucky to escape both zverev in rome F and diego in RG QF
Not everytime he can be lucky.
The raging bull is aging too, he could not maintain his 2017 clay form in 2018 (it was a very visible dip, but none could exploit it),
He will only decline more from this point,
Also given that djoko is back, he's not safe at clay masters too..
