Comparing 2018 Rotterdam to 2020 Vienna

2020 Vienna:

Djokovic seeked a WC and called it the strongest ATP 500 ever. He then proceeded to win the two matches required for #1 before tanking to Sonego in absolute shameless fashion.

2018 Rotterdam:

Federer clinched in his 3rd match/QF (vs Haase) for oldest #1 ever. Did he stop there? No, he did not. Instead, he went on to win the tournament! Giving the fans what they wanted. Little things like this are what separates Federer from everyone else.

forgive the boxes, I'm a lil buzzed :D

Fed tanked vs Robredo USO 13 to avoid losing to Rafa at the US Open
This is about seeking a WC for a 500 event to secure a record. Not about cherry picking some match in Federer's worst year on the tour when he met Nadal plenty of more times than he should have unlike Nadal in 2015. Try again.

Moronic comment since Fed’s back was utterly wrecked in the summer of 2013 and it was a fourth round match.
riiight....it was just fine for all 3 round before that match (he rag dolled all his opponents) ....he even added 2 clay court tournaments to his schedule during that summer. I think the prospect of facing and losing to in form Rafa on AA Stadium for first time was something he wanted to avoid. Also Millman USO 18 and Delpo 17 lossess were a bit suspicious too.

You could also say that Djokovic (and Thiem), having achieved their objectives, were generous and stood aside to let lower ranked players, who need the prize money more, win. Federer on the other hand was greedy.

I don't think anybody is contesting the fact Federer is a better vulture than his fellow Big 3 members ;).
