I thought it would be interesting to compare Borg, Sampras, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic and their matches in the (first) 11 Grand Slams each won:

Sets lost in semifinals and finals
Federer - 9
Sampras - 12
Nadal - 13
Borg - 16
Djokovic - 20

Came from 2 sets to love or 2 sets to 1 down
Federer - 0
Sampras - 1
Nadal - 3
Djokovic - 4
Borg - 7

Straight Set Matches

Nadal - 59
Federer - 56
Borg - 55
Djokovic - 48
Sampras - 46

Borg and Sampras titles were more impressive I think. It was such a strong era back then and big difference in playing styles and court surfaces. Not to mention 16 seeds rather than the much easier 32 seeds.

Nole is the least dominant player.

Every thread turns into a Novak bashing thread from the same usual suspects. :D He has a permanent residence in your head and it's kind of hilarious.

Don't count Djokovic out in a slam if he loses a set in between. Good lesson before RG if anyone wants to make deal when he loses sets.

Nadal's coming back from two sets to love or two to one surprises me, I usually see him as a player who either comes out strong or comes out weaker, pushes another set but can't make a full comeback. Then again he only did it 3 times

Nadals Mental toughness is overrated. In My Opinion Novak is Tougher Mentally. In fact Nadal has lost 15 straight sets to Novak further more 2 streaks of 7 losses in a row against Novak who is a giant in all respect and aspect.

Nadal has one 5 match winning streak against Djoker, two 5 match streaks against Murray and 3 such against Federer. Not bad.

His mental toughness never translated to sustained dominance or Consistency... Look at Feds or Novaks Mentality they embrace the No.1 spot.

That's different from what people typically mean by mental strength. His body never let him continue on tour for long.

I don't think Nadal embraced the No.1 Spot. He played better as the underdog ... As for fighting and endurance, Djokovic has surpassed Nadal in this. Heck Even Murray shown great Fight Coming back from 2-0 sets down to win 9 times... This is something I expected Nadal to shine in... Nadal never figuring out Davedenko on Hardcourt .... Nadals Extremely Clay heavy Resume.

6-1 On Hardcourt shows Davedenko had the blueprint to demolish Nadal on Hard... If Nadal lost the h2h on hardcourt 3-4 or something respectable than I wouldn't have included it. But 6-1 you can't include Roddicks h2h because he din't go 6-1 against Novak on any surface. Furthermore Murray and Djokovic and other players are more reliable when down 2-0 sets. Losing to Journeymen speaks year in and out speaks volumes of Nadals mental toughness. Look at Fed this guy was so tough Mentally in the early rounds that it was unthinkable that he would lose early.... Nadals Wimbledon record this last decade is disgusting. Nadal is good at some categories coming back from a set down sometimes and break points in his prime. But not reliable as other players.

Ah, I get it. Basically everything in tennis is related to mental toughness ;)
