1)The interesting thing about the 2013 finals is Djokovic served lot better than most of us think. He had higher percentage of first serves and the average speed on his first and second serves was higher than that of Murray which means Murray's returning put pressure on Djokovic more than anything else.
2)Djokovic generally perceived as the better attacker had lesser winners than Murray

The biggest difference between the two finals is Murrays first serve percentage and Federer's better net play.Federer managed to win more than 77%(53/68) of the points at the net while Djokovic managed 58%.

Which final do you think Murray played better?I personally think 2013 was better but there is not a lot of difference as people might think.

Murray's first two sets against Federer were virtually as good as those he played yesterday. At 4-4 in the second he had 15-40 on Federer's serve and couldn't summon up a good return on either breakpoint. The momentum was all with him at that stage, and it almost seeemed inevitable he would go 6-4 6-4 up. He was also careless at the worst time when he missed a putaway forehand that would have set him up at 40-15 5-6(www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g_cXNGiPyA#t=117m15s), just one point shy of the tiebreak. Instead, Federer was inspired by the Scot's lapse and proceeded to break. Forget the roof -Murray was never the same after coming up short in that second set.

Murray was really playing well in the 2012 final and nearly took the second set to go up two sets to love. Wasn't he a break up in the second set ?( EDIT : No, he just had BPs. Thanks Cormorant.) If he had won the second set, there was no way Federer would have come back to win in 5. It was closer than it appeared and once Federer levelled the score at 1 sets apiece, I think he played with renewed purpose and Murray went back to his old habits.

It could have been a similar story had Djoker taken the second set after leading 4-1 in yesterday's final. The margins at this level are very very small and a point here or there can decide a match.

Guess it wasn't meant to be for Andy last year and Federer had the stars aligning for him. Something similar to how it was for Andy this year.

He was a bit better in the 12 final.

That was my initial feeling as well but his serve was so much better in 2013 which is an important weapon on grass .

Why do you say 2012 performance was better?

In the 12 final, Murray's serve just abandoned him in the game that lasted 20 minutes in which he got broken in the 3rd set. But really once Federer had the 2nd set he just upped his level completely.

His serve was overall better in this year's final, 1st serve%, but his 2nd serve was better last year . djok just didn't do enough to take advantage of it this year.

But off the ground, murray was clearly better last year, he was consistently aggressive and trying to dictate off both wings.

Murray played the big points better in '13. Djokovic clearly didn't have his A game. Only 59% of 1st serve points won is pretty abysmal; and the 40 UE is probably more than he had in the 1st 6 matches combined.
