Complete Catalog of Yamaha Releases?

Another one for the list has popped up on the bay, appears to be part of Yamahas ‘lady focused’ line (which of course, amounts only to a paint job), the MX300. Teal and pink aluminum frame.

Another couple new ones have just shown up on the bay. More late models, likely Japan/Asian exclusive, called the Line Magic and Pia Lady (misspelled in the listing title as Peer Ready, which sounds like a Japanese person trying to say pia lady, which makes me giggle pretty hard).

Look em up, neat looking frames, black and blue. Wish I could get some stats on them without spending the arm and leg necessary to make ‘em mine.

Another missing link has popped up on the auction site. This time it appears to be another earlier graphite model, the Graphite 95. Sorta looks like a XAM derivitive but follows the naming convention of the 45/55/65.

It has a very odd string pattern, not sure if it was strung incorrectly or what, but it appears to have a 14/17 setup, which I've never seen before. Anyone else want to check it out and see? Should come up just by searching Yamaha Graphite 95.

Just looked at it and saw several other photos of that frame in various other listings and it does indeed seem to be 14/17... my intrigue is through the roof

I love the beveled inner edge of the beam. They did a similar shape on the admic series, but this graphite 95 has a more flat throat area.

There's more to the Admic series than listed on page one as well. Currently on the bay, you can see a neon orange model labeled as the "Admic 97E" and then there's black variants that are simply labeled "97".

hi... just joined to mention i got a Yamaha FX-TP Light the other day from a thrift store...for around $7.
actually went in looking for old dunlops... but this Yamaha somehow stood out...i knew it was old... but it somehow still felt modern?
can't find much info on it except on Yamaha site - https://www.yamaha.com/en/about/innovation/collection/detail/0056/

i gather the original FX-TP weighed around 330gms...so 15% less would make this 280gms...got no scale to check...

Just had this beauty added to the herd.

I've been eyeing some Yamaha racquets to add to my collection and have found this thread a massive help. The break down of weight is where I'm a little confused. You have L, SL, USL. Ive also come across XSL and ZL which are even lighter designation codes. I saw a racquet labeled SL 321-335 g. Why such a wide spread? Is it covering unstrung weight up to potential strung weight?

What's the head size on that? Beautiful racquet!

it's comparable to a 105 i have lying around.

recently i also stumbled upon a xam 6 and xam 8... but those didnt really interest me.

there are a couple more yamahas around in the thrift stores here... but unfortunately no secrets or proto.

I always thought the XAM6 looked cool.

I hit with the YFG 30 as a warmup stick every now and then, has that old school long racket flexy feel when you swing out at the ball, but anything out of the middle you'll notice pretty fast....
Me too! The YFG-30 (the black & white, as befits a gentleman) was the first "good" racket I ever owned, and I got it in 1978, when John Sadri was leaving potholes in service boxes with his.

Decades later, when I had acquired both a YFG-30 (the frame I could afford) and a Yonex Carbonex 8 (the frame I wanted but could not afford), I found I preferred the Yamaha after all!

After hitting a lot of serves with the YFG, I definitely believe that Sadri could indeed hit 120+mph serves with that stick as was claimed back in the late 70s when that was basically unheard of. I was clubbing serves easily as hard as with my modern sticks.

The following advert has a nice overview of the late 70s / early 80s Yamaha selection, and some interesting footnotes on their weight range specifications and grip measuring. Note that the woods were available in L & M, whereas the composites came in SL and XSL too, with the larger heads being lighter generally. The L&M specs are broadly consistent with other brands.

Wow this is super cool, where’d you find it? It’s particularly interesting since I didn’t think the Graphite 45/65 came out until at least 1980/1, and yet they still have the mono shaft woods listed at the bottom which had to be at least 5/6 years old by that point. Maybe they just had a big stockpile?

Yeah, I noticed that list includes about 8 years of releases 1973-81. Did they paint-job update any of them over the years?

Im in Japan. Let me know what you are looking for. And I will keep an eye out for you.

I don’t think there was a secret 8 in 89. Hard to tell from the video. I’d assume it’s the 04, or 06.

There appears to be a gap in the additions list for Hi-Flex, just large enough to insert an 'L'. The bay shows that the Hi-Flex Lite and Hi-Flex L are different moulds and grommet types. The Lite appearing to be the earlier model with double grommets rather than a strip.

@ekucheraw Hold the phone! We have a new entry to add to the list. This just showed up on the bay, and WOW what a paintjob. Yamaha Proto EX 2. Apparently the, darker, broodier, edgier sequel to the Secret/Proto EX. I want it. Idk if I want it for $130... YET. but damn, it looks amazing.

oh, also the Proto LX 110 is missing from the list and can be seen on the bay right now.

oh, also the EX 100 and EX 400 appear to not be on the list (no secret/proto name attached, and its not the wood EX either)
