This is Conchita´s first top 5 victory in three years, her last one was beating Capriati in some indoors tournament.
I think it is nice to see a player as old as her beating a young top 5 player on a hardcourt, Conchita can be awful when she is overly defensive, think of her 1998 us open match against Coetzer, but she can also play some inspired tennis, and her forehand in her prime was one of the best 5 wta forehands ever, I could not see the match, but I read she played great, slices, drop shots, agressive, not many moonballs.

I dont think Miskina is that good, Conchita always had problems with the very powerful players, but when she was young she dominated the moderate power players like Myskina, and at last years french open the standard of play was awful, 1993 Mary Joe Fernandez, Sabatini or Conchita could have won, the women played awful during hat tournament.

It is funny, she was in her prime when I was 10 years old and she still plays, my father thought she had retired.

Yeah, I remember when she first broke out on the tour.
I saw Sabatini lose to her in the eckerd open final in Fla. in 1988 think.
People always call her 'just a moonballer' but she used to launch herself
into that forehand and just hit a bazooka of a shot.
I still consider her footwork to be some of the best ever from a woman.

here's a link to an article mentioning her recently beefed up groundies.
