I am a strong 3.5 player. I play 3 times a week for the most part of year. I like to play more singles but lately been playing a lot of doubles as well. I have a good WW forehand, good backhand slice, decent volleys and good serves (though consistency is an issue on serves). For over a year, I had been playing with PB10 Mid and I did really well with the racquet most of the time. But when I started participating in more tournaments, I felt that the weight of the racquet was too much for me. After my first match I would start hitting frame more often, my serves will slow down significantly and over all my patience in rallying goes down. Bottom line, I was not winning many matches in tournaments. So few months ago, I made a switch to BLX Blade 98 and liked it a lot for the baseline rallies. I was able to sustain long rallies without problem. I also like the Wilson grip shape more than Volkl. I have not had a chance to use it in a tournament yet. But when I took the Blade for my doubles matches, my volleies were terrible, I could not control or react, the touch was not there. I tried Blade for a month and finally went back to PB10 mid. My vollies are again great with PB10 but I am strugling with my baseline game. For some reason, I cannot hit WW forehand consistently with PB10 Mid, as compared to BLX Blade 98. For some reason, I feel that the swing weight and flex of Blade is making it difficult for me to volley. One thing that I feel strongly is that I need a larger head size than 93 sq. in. What do you suggest? Should I keep trying with Blade or demo some other racquets. Or should I work on my game with PB10.
