i know this message board is very ATP orientated. Maybe I missed it but I don't see any real tributes to the massive improvements made by Konta. She won Miami by being aggressive throughout whatever the score and it was a very impressive performance. It was particularly impressive the way she stood on the baseline to take Venus first serve which clearly was a factor in the way Venus served that night. In the women's game anyone in the top 20 can beat anyone else other than Serena and so it is very difficult to pick out players to succeed Serena at the top and challenge to reach slam finals. I thought Muguruza was the obvious one and Kvitova before her unfortunate injury because they have weapons but Konta does too. But Konta's mental toughness and the fact that she clearly now enjoys her tennis which was not always the case with her. She was voted most improved player last year and all I will say is that she is in the mix and she is still improving at 25.
