Conspiracy against the Aussies at the World Cup

Well i think its very clear by now to everyone in the world, including those dirty cheating italian fakers, that there's a refereeing conspiracy against the aussies at the world cup.

We've been cheated out of nearly every game we played and its just a disgrace. Let's take a look back at the Aussies matches:

Aus vs Japan: (Egyptian ref)
1. Ref awards goal to Japan off a cross even though a Japanese forward clearly jumps straight into the Aussie goalie, stopping him from making the save. Usually any contact with the goalie inside the box is called a foul, however this clear bump was allowed.

2. After the match, the ref even went up to the Aussie goalie and apologised for allowing the goal, admitting it was a mistake. Luckily the Aussies were good enough to score 3 goals in the last 8 mins to win 3-1.

Aus vs Brazil: (German ref)
1. Foul count for the match - 25-9 favouring the Brazilians.

2. In every single 50-50 contest throughout the match, a foul was awarded to Brazil, even when the Aussies were running in front of them and in possession of the ball.

3. 1st goal by Brazil was claimed to be offside by the Aussies, who still believe that this is the case, however the ref let the goal stand.

4. Again, the Aussies claim that the 2nd goal was also offside, but no decision is given to the Aussies.

5. The ref blows full time with the Aussies in possession near their goal even though there is clearly still a minute left on the clock.

6. Harry Kewell argues furiously with the German ref about his decisions after the match and he is reported by the German to the federation for this.

7. The tribunal clears Kewell of any charges, finding that the ref was basically lying and changing his story in order to get Kewell suspended for the Aussies next match.

Aus vs Croatia: (English ref)
1. Viduka is blatantly pulled down inside the box but no penalty is given.

2. The Croatian defender clearly handballs the ball inside the box for the 2nd time in the match, however no penalty is awarded again despite protests by all the Aussie players.

3. The ref doesnt send off Simunijc after giving him 2 yellow cards because he "accidentally" writes down Aussie Craig Moore's name in the book instead of Simunijc. He later sends Simunijc off after a 3rd yellow card.

4. Aloisi's goal at the end of the match is disallowed with no clear reason given.

Aus vs Italy: (s*** ref)
1. Italy is given a disgraceful penalty deep into stoppage time after the Italian player clearly dived over Lucas Neill who was already on the ground and made no attempt to attack the player. This was the worst decision of all and knocked the Aussies out of the World Cup.

If this isnt convincing enough, lets look back at the qualifying matches against Uruguay last year. The only goal that Uruguay scored was off a free kick that shouldve clearly been awarded to the Aussies instead.

Looking at this evidence, what do the Aussies have to do to get a decent refereeing decision in the next World Cup?

There is no doubt that the refereeing of the Australian matches, and indeed most matches played at this years World Cup, has been nothing short of a disgrace.

As you have written above, nearly every Australian match was plagued by terrible refereeing decisions that affected us. I'm sure we are not the only nation that feels like this, as I believe Korea also had some blatantly stupid calls made against them.

In my mind, the Italian penalty was definitely not there. The Italian player took a dive, as seemingly most soccer players do, and reaped the rewards.

Heck, if its so easy to dive and get a free-kick, who wont do it? Thats why soccer will never be the best sport in the world. It has almost single-handedly destroyed the World Cup itself.

The referee had blown full-time. When Aloisi asked why his goal couldn't be counted, the referee replied something along the lines of "What are you worrying about, you have qualified anyway".

my theory for the italian game is that the ref got tired and just gave the italians the penalty because he didnt want to ref for another 30 mins for extra time. im not australian nor italian, watching the game neutrally just to watch great soccer

This italian dive penalty will set back Australias and Italys relationship back decades.. Damn you mario and lugi! pizza makers!

Alright, but did you really believe the Aussie's had a chance against Brasil?

IMHO, even if the game was called fairly on your behalf...Brasil would still have won.

Most definitely a tough break against Italy. The Italians are pretty well known for their diving and flopping, i.e., Italian League Soccer. However, you guys were a man up for nearly the entire second half and couldn't capatalize.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Italy or the Referees in the World Cup. I 'd hope the Italians stop diving and flopping more for the sake of thier own pride...and I hope that FIFA does something about this crap officiating in the next World Cup. But those are things we have no control over. Human Officiating is used in all sports because it adds that human element...and that is probably not going to change anytime soon.

Sure, you guys got dealt the short end of the stick...but so did a lot of other teams. The Aussie's did a hell of a job getting out of their pool to make it to the elimination round. You guys proved you can play with the best of them...celebrate that accomplishment and continue to support and encourage your team to do better next time around, instead of dwelling on something you can't control.

As always in soccer there are controversial ref decisions.
But most of the time the controvery comes from soccer laymen watching the game and thinking they should comment on it anyway.

The Australian matches had THREE blatant ref errors:
1) In the Japan match (at 1-1) Cahill felled Takahashi in the penalty box, no PK was awarded.
2) Cahill's equalizer in the Croatia match was obviously offside.
3) The Materazzi red card in the Italy match was far overblown.

ALL these 3 incidents were included in a German TV report yesterday on bad officiating. And none of those you mentioned (all these alleged anti-Ozzy decisions).

ahahaha i love it how u try and make it sound like your a soccer expert but really u have no idea.

firstly cahill didnt score against croatia so in your words "thats bs"

secondly if u knew the rules of soccer, materazzi deserved a red card for going in late with both legs and stopping a certain run into the box.

thirdly, if u knew anything at all about soccer youd know italy is a bunch of fakers and there is no way that they shouldve ever got a penalty against the aussies

fully agree with everything you said matty. in every single match we played we got screwed over someway.

we should have easily won this morning.

Even in our match agaisnt brazil.. yeah sure, we may not have been able to beat them and we were no doubt the underdogs, but there was no doubt the refs were against us and we COULD have stood a slight chance of at least getting a draw.

It's Australia's own fault that they can't score in 60 mins. while being 1 man more on the field - should've easily won my ass!
So a dive at the last sec kicked you out of the WC - though luck, but that's the game!
In 2002 Italy was screwd big time against South-Korea, it was such a biased ref in favor for South-Korea. Italy was kicked out of the WC that time, now they won cause of luck and a bad ref decision. It happens all the time, stop talking about a conspiracy against Australia, that's just ridiculous!
I felt bad for Australia, cause I wanted them to win, but saying it's a conspiracy makes me

so it seems a bit fishy to me that italy (already known to be blatant cheats) would have such a complete reversal of "luck" this year.

for some reason i dont think the refereeing decision last night was luck, rather a way to pay back italy's fortunes.

after all, the italian local league is under investigation right now for influencing referees.

1) Cahill? Kewell? I'm not supposed to remember all the names of a outsider WC team, am I?

2) He didn't go in "with both legs". Just saw it again on CNN. He desperately tried to reach the ball with his right foot, slipped a little bit so that his left foot came forward as well. But this left foot was not aimed at the ankles of the Australian player. In no way the "both-feet-forward" tackle which is supposed to be red-carded. And whether the Ozzy player "certainly" would have had a run into the box is completely irrelevant.

3) The Italians are not a bunch of fakers. But some Ozzies obviously are racists.

Even in the dying seconds of stoppage time a foul is a foul.
And if it is in the box it is a penalty kick.

I don't think there's any doubt that the refs have been very ordinary this year.

Forgetting about the Australian games, the Portugal v Netherlands match was a complete and utter disgrace with 16 yellow cards and 4 reds given. So far in this tournament we've had a World Cup record of 23 red cards and 291 yellow cards handed out and there's still 12 matches to play.

Even dodgy old Sepp Blatter, the FIFA president (FIFA and the Olympics, surely the only two sporting bodies to make professional boxing look squeaky clean) said that "The refereeing has been the only negative aspect of this World Cup."

Did you watch the USA vs ITALY game? after an Italian player gets red carded for intentionally elbowing an American player...2 USA players get red carded undeservedly..supposedly make up calls.

Or how about the USA vs Ghana game? Penalty kick awarded to Ghana in stoppage time before the half. Consensus that it should not have been a penalty kick. This put them a goal down in a must win game that would of pushed them to the elimination round.

Was I bummed? yes. But did I cry conspiracy? Nope. That's how the game goes. Bottom line the US team didn't take care of business.

Look bro, I'm just trying to help you move on. I'm a fan of the Aussie team, but dwelling on this lose will only make it a bitter experience for you when the next World Cup comes around. And that's something I don't want for you.

You have to understand that the elite teams like Brasil, France, Germany, Argentina, Italy, etc, they have A LOT of history in soccer. They've put the most blood, sweat, and tears into this game...they've paid thier dues. So they are going to get the calls or be more favorable over the up and coming teams like Australia, USA, Ghana, Sweden...and others.

If you got a veteran going 1v1 against a rookie...who's going to get the call? It's the nature of the beast.

4 years is a long wait...but that is the very reason it's worth it.

Followers of ANY World Cup team could be just as angy.

THE REFS have been horrible. They pretty much ruined every game for me.
They look like it is their first match ever! The offsides calls have been infuriating and inconsistent... but they always seem to be like that.
But the number of yellow and red cards is ridiculous. Even after FIFA told the refs that they thought it was too many. Why can't they give verbal warnings??
But the games have been VERY physical, maybe it was too long ago but it seems more violent than in Korea. I have seen a lot of elbows on headers and a lot of "horse-collar" tackles by tackling from behind WHILE yanking the jersey from behind which looks very easy to injure players.

Anyway, maybe all the cards are due to too many years of people FLOPPING on the field...giving futball a bad name.
Maybe the message is:
If you flop either because you are acting or got fouled, somebody is going to get a card and soon it will be 7-7 futball!
Maybe if they are consistent, it will make defenders be more careful and not as aggressive which will allow the offense to have more possesion which would allow for a more "exciting" high scoring brand of game.

But until the players learn the "new rules"... this is excruciating!

Italy and Italian FCs have been pushed by referees FOR DECADES.Australia was clearly cheated, there has been a profound result alteration due to a bad call.I've been watching football since I was a little kid and this is like the 10000th time something like this happens. We were watching the game with my father and we were just telling each other, the FIRST time any Italian falls in the box he's gonna give then a PK. Any non-biased football follower knows this.Frankly I am sick of it.No matter how sh!tty a team they have,Italy just HAS to go at least thruogh to the quarters. And this is one of the worst World Cups ever, refereeing and not only..
