Contest? Guessing the SW of the new K Pro staff.

Anybody want to have a contest to guess the swingweight of the new K Pro Staff? We'll use whatever figure is posted by TW in their specs section, regardless of what others measure from actual frames they may have in hand, OR, if it comes out first in print OFFICALLY (I'm thinking along the lines of the catalogue) by Wilson before TW gets these racquets/specs up.

Here's the silly fun prize: For all who participate, you owe the winner, ooooh, what....say....at least three sentences of flowery grandiose complements about how they are king of the court and you are not worthy of being in their presence - no matter who they are!!!

Now,
1. Numbers are first come, first serve. Obviously, there can't be that many "good" numbers to pick so that will limit the number of people. This sucks, especially for late comers but at least you can still spectate and reading the declarations of the losers could be interesting.

2. This is meant to be fun - a change of pace around here if you will. If you post a guess and lose, please post your declaration and do so in a fun creative way (and no subtle insults), even if the guy winning insulted you on a thread a day ago or you think they're an impertinent troll. Suck up the ego.

Since I'm the OP, I get to go first (hey, I did start it :))
My guess: 343

*and if you think this is stupid, fine, here's a simple solution - don't post. No takers? Won't bug me in the least and the thread will die away.

But I thought the stock strung weight was about 366g (12.9 oz.)?

Did you add an overgrip and a dampener before weighing it?

You are correct.. 378g is total weight.. kps88, string, overgrip and dampener.. The 359g swing weight is based on my actual racquet not from the frame itself.

Thank you, Thank you! I always knew I had it in me. :)

Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to post everything you have (photos, reviews, specs, etc). really appreciate your efforts.

drakulie with all due respect that is not stock:) it could range with overgrip or not, difference in type of string and gauge, dampener etc......

Heck I could make this KPS88 SW under 330 in that case,

though jetlees experiment is nice it can be off very easily

most accurate way to find out is to take three random stock unstrung KPS88 and put them on a babolat RDC machine,

^^ I agree. However (and please don't take this the wrong way), I could care less what the SW of a frame is without the strings.

Anyway, as it is>>> I'll definitely hit with this frame, but don't think I'll be using one. if you recall, my only drawback of the PT630 was the "head heavy" issue. I like frames that are much more head light. BTW, was hitting with it last night (PT630). Such a sweet frame!! :) Probably hit the hardest FH I have ever hit. It even sounded different. YIKES!

We'll see.

333 for my guess.

There's no way it could be that low, that's even lower than the K90 which is 12 points HL unstrung (supposedly anyway). The KPS is only 9 points HL unstrung and is heavier. It would have to be at least 350 according to my estimation.

I never liked the the PT630, it felt sluggish and just plain awkward to swing. I didn't care for the muted feel either, got rid of it in a hurry.

Just a note: Unit of SW is not g.

Anyways, was this strung or unstrung.

Sounds like unstrung. Add 10 - 20 points at least and you might be looking at a strung SW of 380!!! travelerajm's life's goal has been achieved!

the sound is a THUMP, similar to PC600:):):)

anyway, as for unstrung SW, you should care because it will give you an idea of your base frame. I too like very HL frames with low SW so before I buy a few I put up a dozen or so on our local RDC mahine and pick/match the lowest ones of the bunch. Believe me there is a difference. TW has this service for a fee and it is worth every penny. Not sure how much variance in tolerance there is going to be with this KPS88 but with other frames the difference in tolerance is very noticble even without an RDC machine.

it is strung Jetlee would not have been able to do his experiment unstrung ( it will not hang)

OK based on Jetlee summary and review:

weight = 13.3 oz strung
SW = 359 strung
balance = estimated 6 pts HL strung based on feel

Actually, SW is not too bad considering the weight and balance.

jetlee, balance is the easiest thing to find out. Please do it. Hold the stick on the forefingers of both hands on either side of the center and slide them till they meet. That point is the balance. Measure distance from the butt. Or just place it on the side of a table till it tilts.

My number is the one I want. I just put that many decimal points because of the 10 character requirement :) If you want you can shorten it to 1 or 2 decimal points

If they make more userfriendly 12 Oz model of this frame, the swingweight should be around 328 or so. Which is perfect, pretty much. still leaves room for customization for those that wants higher SW.
As it is right now, only the ATP tour level guys can use it. that is a HUGE market, i guess.... What a waste..
