Cool, rare (?) Volkl Xtended (V1)

Just got this in the mail. Didn't really know what I was buying beyond Volkl (as is the nature of some online shopping bargains). Thought it was a Volkl V1, maybe 10 years old. It actually doesn't say "V1" on it anywhere. It says Xtended, and Precise Frame (and some other stuff).

This thing sure is "Xtended" anyway - I measured about 27.8 inches (70.6 cm) from butt to hoop.

Weight with these strings and a Tournagrip was 10.8 oz (309 gm).

I hit against the wall and a couple of no-net serves (which all went in). Definitely feels super stable and controllable.

Anyone have any knowledge/trivia on this baby?

It's just a V1 with a longer handle.

Supposed to be 28 inches long with swing weight of 337, stiffness of 68.

I don't see the letter "V" but the number "1" is there right next to the letter "d" in "Xtended".

Perhaps this racquet came out before the racquet was designated V1? I might be mistaken but I think Volkl used to make models called Vario 1, 2, etc and then at some point the name V1 stuck and became their best seller.

I used the X-4, closer to 20 years ago than 10. This was during the long racket phase. My frame was a 28" Great control from the 18 main string, enough pace when I got the frame moving.
Enjoy.

Yeah, I thought the X could serve as a V and that the shape on the right was a "1". Nice example of 90's graphic design. I definitely feel that 337 swing weight, which was odd to me given that I weighted the racquet at less than 11 oz. But I guess that extra inch moves the center of mass out and accounts for the heavy feeling. Seemed like a pretty stable racquet given 10 mins of hitting, despite the low weight, though.

Yeah, control felt good. I'll update when I get a chance to play with it.

One of the reasons extended Length frames are not more common is the increase in swing weight. With the low pick up weight many frames, across all brands, people will pick a 28-29 incher up in a shop with a light pick up weight, then are shocked by them on the court.

This uses the precise frame so it isn't really a V1, that used the vario frame. These date back to 1997-98. Volkl made 2 of these racquets, Xtended 1 and 2 (x1 & x2). The 2 was an oversize which boasted of titanium in the layup. It used the power frame. It was marked as 112sq" but was actually only a 105. It wasn't as long as this one, it was 27.4". This dual dampening handle was one of the best in that era. These are really good racquets, still play great with modern strings.
