hey! why does that look so good at 6:00 a.m.?
darn you, oscar!

btw, thanks for putting up that poll. i had looked at the draw and not seen those interesting guys, many of whom were at vina del mar last week, so this is looking better already! :)

Nice... if he passes second round he will be mostlikely facing HIs team mate Rui Machado's Best Friend Marcel Granollers... curious!

The man from Murcia of course.

Nicolas Almagro.

What is the field gonna do against 225 kph serve, forehand and backhand like lightning and sliding ability unmatched in history.

Nothing, they're gonna lose.

Look at the glare. The color of the shirt is definitely nice. Has the stadium filled up a little?

I like his tennis, but too often he seems to lack that killer/closer instinct.

Stadium still looks the same.
Do you know what time it is there?

is it reebok?

I dont think so, but it could be. He was in a similar outfit in white at auckland, and the design across the front was reflective. very nice.

edit: maybe it is reebok. there's a patch on the left chest that wasnt on the white outfit at auckland, and it might say reebok. i hope it's not part of the design because that patch does not look good, distracts from the overall design.

i checked the atp site, and Nico is wearing Reebok. now i remember trying to see the name on the shirt at auckland. maybe they've increased the size of the logo? the white was nice because the rainbow effect on the chest design changed depending on light reflection, while also jazzing up the whiteness.

Ricardo Hocevar is playing very well. But he just don`t have answers to Almagro`s big serve. By the way, Nico seemes kinda chubby to me ...

Unfortunately the tickets are just too expensive in Costa do Sauípe. Needless to say that we don't have a "tennis tradition" here in Brazil, so since Guga retired, it is quite unusual to see a tennis court full.

no different from usual. he's a different body type from gilles simon. to me he looks aristocratic.

that's too bad ... it would be better if they made it more accessible ...... on the other hand, after viewing that youtube about Carnival, that's gotta be expensive to get all gussied up for.

apparently, next up on center court is:

[1] M Melo (BRA) / A Sa (BRA) vs [WC] T Bellucci (BRA) / S Prieto (ARG)

the only one of these four i've seen before is Bellucci -- i remember him from vina del mar last week. he's got that deadly drop shot. never seen him in dubs before. i'm assuming it will be easier for two than it was for one to get to that dropper of bellucci's :)

not a good sign: 3 of the 4 players are brazilian
but still half the audience that was there is now gone!

1 game all.

Went with Massu here, his stoner looks should get him through to the final, hopefully he isn't challenged to an impromptu breakdancing competition on the way there, that could tire him out.

Melo and Sa are the best doubles players of Brazil. They`ve reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2007 and were very close to participate in Masters Cup last year (they've ended in ninth place, so they went to Shanghai as alternates). Melo, Sa and Bruno Soares (who is now partner of Kevin Ullyet of Zimbabwe) currently are top 20 doubles players.

Bellucci may be considered the greatest hope for brazilian fans since Guga's retirement. He's 20 yo, a great claycourter who has won four challengers in a row last year (he rose steadily to top 70 at the end of the first semester). He was able to take 10 games from Rafa in Rolang Garros 1st round last year (I guess only Djokovic could do better at the semifinals). Unfortunatelly he's very, very unstable and weak mentally. But I honestly think he's got potencial to be a top 30 soon; he's still improving technically, what is great.
