Could Ernie be the dark horse?

Ernie beat Tommy in 5 sets. I know it is only the first round. He has a big game but mentally fragile. He is in Ferrer's quarter. Assuming he wins the next match and plays Gasguet in the 3rd round. I don't see him beating Ferrer but miracles can happen.

Greetings, newcomer. The Gulbis, this preternatural one-man phylum (sub-species including Dolgopolov, Rosol, Dimitrov, Haase), he is a new one to your virgin eyes, yes?

No. And this horse has been beaten to death, resurrected, and then beaten to death again and again when it comes to Gulbis. It's time to bury it and lay it to rest.

Gulbis only wins matches when his allowance gets taken away.

Even then he only wins enough matches to get some play $$$, hence the very few back to back wins this year.

Guys like Gulbis just frustrate me. Because I see them play and I'm fascinated at the unbelievable talent. People with an ability to dominate and deliver on a whim... but they really don't feel the need do it. They just enjoy tour life, making a little money, having fun.

It makes me wonder how many truly great players there are out there in the field. If they'd only just apply themselves like a Federer or a Nadal.

I think he'll beat Johnson, but I really don't believe he'll make a deep run. As always, he has the talent, we all know that. But, he does this regularly - wins a good match, but, then fails to ride the wave and goes back to his old ways and loses shortly thereafter.

At this point with Gulbis I expect nothing, and usually get nothing.

I fear that The Gulbis might be becoming too predictable, and without his aura of mystique the novelty factor will soon dissipate.

Unless he's licensed to guide a hansom cab, I foresee another diplomatic incident with a foreign country's police force.
An accomplished professional tennis player, a handsome unshaved man, happened to meet some ladies at a bar whilst on his tennis tour duty in a foreign land. The deranged overzealous police force of the country in question apparently had nothing better to do than insert themselves into this temporary relationship.

It is the country that has issues to work on, not the tennis player. I would not visit there again if I were him.

Did he leave his white horse tethered outside? That might have drawn some attention.

Unless he tethered his white horse against the handicapped rail without properly displaying a handicap sign, I see no legitimate reason why the police state would have taken interest in his person at the time of the incident.
