Court speed at the Olympics

Tokyo seemed to have a faster, lower bouncing hard court relative to AO and the USO.

On the whole, would you say the Olympic court surfaces are standouts? Do they conform to ATP status quo (i.e. slow and gritty hard)?

Going to be slower and slower so top players have less chance of losing -> more views -> more sponsor money
Which attacking player do you actually like.

Don't kid yourself. The error machines like shapo are not great players and making a surface fast won't give you better players automatically.

We don't want slow courts and ATP has been slowing down a few while speeding up others all the time. But you should NOT get 90s type surfaces today.

I like every single player except novak ;) I'm kidding. I respect Novak and have paid to watch him play (Wawa at USO lol). I like his mastery of the sport but it's really boring when the best person is the most consistent who just gets one more ball back. Logically speaking the slower the courts are, the harder it is to hit a winner, the longer the rally goes, and the more it favors the most consistent player (Djoker). The motive is "for longer rallies" but realistically to make sure best players go through and so that normie who buys ticket to finals doesn't see a no name in their eyes.

Which is not bad at all.

No names can be fun in a first week. But I would hate to pay 100 dollars for watching Dan Evans winning Washington final vs Griekspoor.

At the end of the day the longer rallies rule came after horrible 90s where Sampras and Ivanesevic destroyed the tennis. Even the good matches were having too few rallies.

I think current era is good, players need to attack as well as rally.

Speaking of Olympic surfaces, does anyone know why were the Rio games played on a HC instead of CC since the Rio Open is held on clay?

I’ve found a thread that said it was even initially intended to be DecoTurf HC, but eventually they decided to go for GreenSet?
Makes no sense to me, honestly. It’s nice when the Olympic court matches the host city. Rio has an ATP500 which is on clay and clay is the main surface in Brazil/South America. The brazilian male player who’s a Slam champion has won all three on clay.
Crazy, Nadal lost narrowly to DelPo, he could’ve been two-time Olympic Gold medalist.

The Rio court was a joke. Contributed to it being an ugly af tournament.

Droga, Nadal poderia ter dois ouros olímpicos e com Paris a caminho, ele poderia ter até três.
