CourtBallistec 4.3 talk/discussion

If you move your weight forward, you're most likely going to drag your toe, even if only slightly. When you pivot off your back foot, you're going to be wearing down the toe area.

You'd have to be a heavy toe-dragger to wear down that area, though.

Now up on TWE...

Can you get the clay court version anywhere in the USA? I am about to turn in a worn out pair and would love a pair of clay court shoes as I move to Florida.

I dun think they usually sell the clay versions in the US... just not popular enough and not enough clay courts.
they had the adidas in clay version last year, managed to snag a couple of those with warranties before they sold out.
Those cb in clay outsoles look really nice tho...........

If you're just looking for Nike clay court shoes, you can always just NikeID a pair of 2k11s with clay soles.

So is there anyone that can comment on the width of the shoe (in the forefoot esp) in comparison to the 3.3's? I know they are supposed to be slightly wider but I wanted to see if there was anyone who had pain from narrow fit of the 3.3's like I do and found the wider fit of the new version's to be roomy enough.

The lateral support is more forgiving, I think a wide foot would do just fine in the 4.3s. They feel like they have the same roominess compared to the 3.3s.

My foot feels slightly wedged in the forefoot, it's just a tad to narrow for my foot but if the 4.3's are in fact wider it should be perfect.

I just tried a pair of these. I do not know how anyone wears these. They do not come close to fitting. I have narrow feet and always did well with the Breathe Free 2 and Cage 1. They are so narrow I am not even comfortable with my A width foot. Also, the arches are too high. I now have to wear the Global Court because they are the only decent fitting shoe that doesn't wear out after a week. Also, the current Breath Free 2K11 have some stiched seam in the right foot arch that dig in to my arch. I have tried 4 pairs of those in the blue color and they all do the same thing.

ok thats unfortunate for you, mine fit me perfectly although I do like the vapors better though..

If I'm an 11 in 2.3s would I be the same size in 4.3s?

It seems the B7s are 1/2 sz bigger than the B6s.

Sorry, for digging out this thread, but after wearing the CB 3.3 since August last year and the usual painful  first several weeks ( and the fact that the shoes stiffened again during the winter and lower temp ), finally today I was able to try the new 4.3 in the store.

:-)

I'm pretty sure that I'll buy them and change the plan of using another brand new pair of the clay CB 3.3 that I've bought last year and planned to use from the mid April.

Do you think the clay will give me more grip on a hard, slippery track ...?

The last 3.3 had the sole standard for hard courts and I have lasted 1 year

I do not mind the duration, but I want more grip as the track glides much

personally, I was really mad that they changed the mesh tongue to a plastic tongue... the plastic was like cutting into my ankle when I tried them on

I like the shoes but wish the tongue would come up more. Not sure why it's so stuffed in the shoe. Otherwise, solid tennis shoe.

Hey guys, I am currently looking for a new Tennis Shoe, and I recently tried on the Courtballistec 4.3. I loved the past 3 Courtballistecs, and their mesh tongues/sock-fits, however on the new 4.3, I found that the new plastic tongue cut into my ankle and was not that comfortable. Has anybody else noticed this issue? If so, does it improve after breaking them in?
thanks!
sam

Hey all,

Running into a size issue. I am one of the seemingly rare few who really liked the 3.3s. I'll admit they were a bit heavy, but other than that I thought they were a fantastic shoe.

The 3.3 in a 10.5 fit like a glove, but the 4.3 seems a bit more snug. Could be additional padding, I'm not sure. I went with the 11s, but fear my foot may slide a little when I hit the court, which I am yet to do.

Anybody else run into anything similar?

Thanks.

Did they change the lacing eyelets in the 4.3's? The eyelets on my 3.3's got torn to shreds quickly. The 3.3 model is very comfotable for me, much more so than the 2.3's which took a month of foot pain to break in. Do you think the new model fits similarily to the 3.3's?

I agree that I've had no issues breaking-in the US Open 3.3s I grabbed for $48. They are indeed heavy but seem a great tennis shoe. I went up 1/2 size (to an 11.5) from what I wear in the 2.3s (11) as they are a little narrower.

When I tried on the 4.3s I found they fit almost identically to the 3.3 (built on same platform) so I would caution against sizing down (though all feet are different).

I love these shoes and they're really comfortable. The only downside for me is durability. After a month, there is a decent sized hole on the sole of my right shoe, and I've shredded the shoelace of my left shoe right at the top eyelet three times already. The black dots on the side seem to be holding up fine though

I bought the 4.3's in the peach, gray color way and I don't know why but the arch support was too high in the left shoe so I had to return them. It didn't effect the right one just the left which was kind of strange, there may have been a minor defect with the left shoe.

Just got these delivered last night and on first impressions after trying it on, it feels really comfortable. Not quite as plush as my B7 but will see how it compares when I start playing in these.

Agree that the tongue should be a bit longer.

fixed for you. they're like a vivid neon pink color more than red.

It's the same color at Serena's US Open dress... "scarlet fire"

I think that's more of a red than a pink. Berdych's current clay court top is the same color as the shoe.

If I am not mistaken, the scarlet fire Nike 4.3 court ballistec's should be out 1st May,2012.....keeps his fingers crossed for the release of this ***** kick ass shoe!

Since they are built on the same last, does the 4.3 have the incredibly stiff/unpadded ankle collar like on the 3.3 (digs into inside of both ankles when playing)?

Also, is the lacing system the same? It looks the same but I have not had chance to try any on. Thanks for any feedback, especially re the first question.

^^^^^ yeah they do =\ unlike the 2.3's which had padding all around the ankle areas, the 3.3 and 4.3 both have lots of padding towards the back of the ankle but still dont have nearly enough on the interior/exterior sides. Though for some reason, the 4.3's are noticeably softer than the 3.3's in that regard.
not too sure about the lacing system, feels pretty much the same to me...

Thanks for the detailed response. Much appreciated, though no closer to deciding between 4.3s and B7s. :)

I would go with the B7's, Ive tried out both and although I'm a dedicated nike customer I gotta say the B7's are probably better than the 4.3's on almost every level. The only thing was that I dont like adidas's warranty system (sends a shoe back) so I'd rather go with nike's warranty shoes (sends voucher back)
