Cracking knee + pain? Help?

I've had this knee thing, only on my left leg, where when I bend down, it will make this cracking(like crinkling a piece of paper) noise, not too loud, and there's some pain, very minor. There's more pain if I bend my knee longer. So when I do a serve motion and knee bend, it really bothers me. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Speaking as someone who has had knee surgery on both knees, you need to go and see a medical professional immediately, any advice you receive here will be speculative at best, crap at worst....

I highly recommend you see a sports phsyiotherapist as the start point of your discussions, standard doctors are often useless at this stuff (and the good ones will just refer you to a physio anyways ;)).

Your knees have to last you a long time, a physio will help you fix or refer you to a surgeon as a last resort if necessary. As for diagnosis - my physio is a good friend, he knows my history intimately - and yet he will still never even attempt to phone-diagnose me (and it's not a $$ thing, I don't pay to see him). Please go see someone, don't rely on random opinion here...
