Crank Stringing Machine Recommendations

Hi folks!

I have had a Gamma X-ELS constant-pull electronic table-top stringing machine for last 10 years. I'm moving so am looking to sell it and want to buy a crank machine to replace it. I don't string much these days so don't need the fancy electronic features and speed of stringing isn't a factor. Just want something bulletproof that will last me a lifetime.

Top contenders are:
  • $1,630 Tourna 350-CS (better clamps)
  • $1,179 Alpha Axis Pro (gravity base clamp release)
  • (prices include shipping and taxes for me)
I don't think the 350-CS is worth the extra $450. What are your thoughts?

I actually recommended to a friend who is just beginning his stringing journey the Alpha Revo 400 (table top version of the Alpha Axis Pro) and he is enjoying it so far. I personally use a prince neos crank and while the clamps needs to be replace its still a sturdy workhorse. I think if longevity & versatility are your main concerns then either machine would do. So if you think that the extra $450 isn’t worth it then you should get the Alpha Axis Pro which in my opinion is already nicer than my prince neos haha. I think the only thing that I should let you know is to make sure you get the full experience. In other word, make sure you get a dedicated customer service that can help you with troubleshooting. Either machine will last you a lifetime but the tension head and clamps will wear down; make sure beforehand to ask their solutions to these trouble because finding parts on the second-hand market will give you a tough time.

TLDR: alpha axis pro
