Cream vs Silverstring

I've been using Cream as a cross for a few months and during the past couple of weeks I've also been using Silverstring 1.20. I've used each with shaped poly and multi mains.

Both are slick, soft, comfortable round polys, medium powered, and offer great play duration. Really, I'm not finding too much different between them as cross strings. Silverstring may offer a bit more feel (crisper?) while Cream is more muted. But I think for the most part they are pretty similar strings

Can anyone offer any other comparisons between them, ideally, pointing out any significant differences you may have found?

WC provides a little more than 40' in their set so I don't have to bridge the main tie off on an 18x16 racquet.;)

both good strings.
on my end, if comparing the similar gauges at around 46 lbs (angell tc 97 18 20)
(natually players mileage will vary depending on the tension used)

iso speed c has a tad more elasticity, better tension maintain, tad more pop and power..
iso speed c is softer. causes less harm to my n gut...

as a cross string, I prefer iso c ( i use it with n gut)
for a full bed weiss canon s. - thou a short lived stringbed..~10 hours.

Calling @junior74 ... think his elbow liked silverstring over cream

Hey, man!

Haven't tried Silverstring in many years. But I do like Cyberflash, perhaps you mixed them up @ByeByePoly ;) Cyberflash grabs the ball better, and I just feel extremely confident playing with that string. The touch is also really nice. Not a huge fan of Cream, I feel it doesn't stand out on anything.

I prefer Gosen Sidewinder and Big Hitter Black 7, both feel softer than Cream and both grab the ball more (they are both twisted; different texture). Max spin!

Have not been reporting any findings for months, I'm out with a fecked up knee :(

I second the Cyber Flash. I used it in a hybrid with multi crosses. I got great touch at the net and it stiffened up for more control on hard ground strokes. And amazing spins, especially for a poly/multi hybrid. It doesn't last as long as Silverstring though.

I've also tried Silverstring 1.20 full bed @50 in my signature racquet. I would go down 2 or 3 lbs. if there's a next time. It was very firm, had a lot of control, and jammed my wrist. After that I switched from leather to a synthetic grip. Cyber Flash is cheaper and I like it better. Haven't gone for Cream yet.

Yep ... my memory failed me. You had talked about Sidewinder ... a different "S" word. :D

Sorry to hear about the knee. How long until you are back?

Curious, what multis did you try to cross the Cyber Flash with, and how did it work?

I´ve done Black7 with Monogut ZX, and it works really well IMO.

I've used Hexy Fiber 16 and Gutex Ultra 1.35 as crosses for Cyber Flash 1.25. With Hexy there was a lot of plow sensation, but it wore my arm out too quickly. Topspin, slices, spin serves, and some crafty forehand slice, all kinds of spin were there. Flat hitting was easy too.

With Gutex Ultra I got a lot more comfort with very good spin as well, just not as much as HF. But let me stress, with a GU 1.35 cross the bed was real plush with good response. When my Big Hitter Silver reel gets low, I am definitely getting Cyber Flash 1.25 again.

Gonna try something like that! Thanks for the response :)

PS! I was under the impression that BH Silver and CF was the same string?

A lot of people are convinced of that. I vote that they are different for 2 reasons:

- The surface of the strings are different. BHS is more smooth.
- Topspin has a very special coating on a lot of their strings that tightens around the core more the harder the impact with the ball. So soft touch volleys feel nice and soft while on the hardest strokes the strings stiffen up and give a lot of control and spin.

If you've seen the TW lab data for stiffness on CF, you'll notice that it is assigned the stiffness of a multi. This is not so when you swing hard through the ball.

Wow, cool! As I wrote above, what really surprised me with CF was the delicate touch which we don't usually get from polys. And I have often wondered about that mysterious stiffness rating... Thanks for the insight :)

You're welcome. My pleasure.
