Creating a pusher

My Bro really loves to swing at the ball but he hasn’t a consistent feel for the strings’ orientation when he swings, and consistently slaps balls into the net or wide. I told him to just push the ball. He wants to look pretty like Roger F (neither of us do!) but at least he can aim a ball and keep a rally going from the service line. If I can make him a full time pusher instead of a wannabe Roger, we could have longer rallies and more fun. I no longer want to reform his forehand (too many details for him to remember and for me to push) .

Now that I think about it, advice to “hit through 3 balls” is advice to push the ball, with swing action before the push and a follow through after the push.
Whatever anyone thinks, I won’t feel shame if I create another pusher. :p

Just played a regular equal opponent pusher this morning, who I beat soundly even though I’m playing off a shoulder injury from skiing. Anyway, since playing injured I’ve had to slow my game down, serve and place better he’s no longer able to use my usual pace to defect my former power balls as well which has really thrown his game off. Also, he doesn’t have the ability to trounce a deep easy serve. I also wait out his spinny and loopy balls more which seems to work. There are easy ways to beat these pushers! I don’t know why he doesn’t try to learn more of an all round game but he seems stubborn to learn differently than being a pusher, which seems to work ok with him in most cases. Don’t think he’ll ever move to a higher level if this is the only way he plays.
