Cross-Dominance Issues with Forehand

Hey all,

I'm right handed, with a dominant left eye, which I only very recently discovered. I've had hand-eye coordination issues for as long as I can remember and its relieving knowing what the source of it is.

Since discovering my cross-dominance, I've learned to make the appropriate adjustments for several activities such as skeet shooting, but I'm yet to find my solution to tennis. I did some research and found that most people with cross-dominance have issues with their backhand. But honestly, my single handed backhand is just fine. However, I tend to frame my forehands a LOT and I lose sight of the ball right before contact. Similarly, I've always had trouble focusing on the ball during my serve. Everything gets a little fuzzy after the toss.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any possible solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Your cross dominant eye is not why you are having problems with your FH or serve as that sounds completely counter-intuitive. I suggest having a coach look at your shots.

How come? Could you please describe this?
Visual cross-dominance can be an issue for some athletes but is not the case for all. You should actually be using both of your eyes when the ball is crossing the net and when the ball is well into NML (assuming you are on the baseline). You should have already established your contact point by the time the ball bounces or reaches NML.

Shortly after you have started your forward swing, you may have turned your head enough to limit tracking with your dominant eye. However, your contact point should already be firmly established by that time.
