Hi,

I am lokking for a Cross String to soften String bed for Mains yonex poly Tour pro or Kirschbaum pro Line 2 or hyper g soft in 1,15 for Junior 15 years.
MSV Swift / Velocity Last 3 hours ..Not enough ..

Any ideas?

Have reels of
MSV Swift
Cyber flash
RIP Control
MSV Go Max
Kirschbaum syngut Premium

Any ideas not too expensive?

Bussard Plays soft in 1.20mm at 40 pounds for me...ptp yellow plays stiffer for some reason.i used ptp as mains n bussard cross this week and it's in my top 3 soft poly round hybrids... I have history of tennis elbow and I'm over 40 so I can feel stiff strings... after 10 hours soft polys hurt so I'm still sensitive

Never heard of them. Maybe difficult to get Here in Germany. Any other more popular Strings i could try as soft Cross?

Luxilon Element is my favorite soft poly overall because of its feel and control. But it’s expensive and I’ve only played it in a full bed… I’m sure it would be good as a cross though.

Head Lynx Touch is very soft; people like it but I found it mushy and erratic. Perhaps those drawbacks are lessened with a better and stiffer string in the mains.

Or Cyber flash 1,2mm. Stiftness Data Racket Pedia says 0,6. But for 1,25mm and 1,3mm much stiffter..more than 1,0.....how ist that possible?

@Sontheim - The following co-polys are medium-soft with higher surface hardness/integrity versus the likes of Cream, Swift or YPT Air, so they should last noticeably longer (alphabetical by brand):

Diadem Flash 1.15 or 1.20
Gosen G-Tour 3 1.18 or 1.23
Tru Pro Ghostwire 1.17 or 1.22

If the junior wants more pop/power to go along with the softness, I'd look at using a slick and durable syn gut or monofilament nylon in the crosses, with 7-10% higher reference tension over what you're using now:

Babolat Syn Gut
Babolat RPM Soft
Diadem Evolution
Gosen AK Pro CX
Kirschbaum Syn Gut
Yonex Dynawire

Hope that helps. Any questions, feel free.

OK thanks a lot. So If i used Poly with 22/21kp still 22 in the Mains and p.e. 23 kp a Nylon String in crosses?
I'd string both halves of the hybrid higher by 7-10% (sorry I didn't make that more clear in my original reply). So, if you were tensioning a poly/poly hybrid at 21/21kg, I would do the poly/nylon hybrid at 23.5/22.5, then modulate up or down from there as necessary.

Also, there are some who stick to the school of thought that you should string your softer string higher than your firmer string, to produce a more equal strung stiffness in each string (so in your case, you'd string the poly mains at 22.5 and the non-poly cross at 23.5), but in my experience, depending on the behavior and feel I'm looking for, this isn't always optimal. If you have two or more frames to work with, you might try this as an experiment in the second frame, and see which tension setup the junior likes hitting with more.

Oh great..thanks a lot. And coming from a Poly / multi Hybrid with 22/21kg with Velocity in crosses also 7-10 percent Higher?

There's new string made in Germany from weiss called power principle... no info on this forum...supposedly soft n power

Wasabi X is a great cross string. Doesn’t dent or notch easily and retains good snapback throughout string life. Getting excellent spin/comfort from TBS 1.20/wasabi x combo.

If you're already stringing poly mains / Velocity crosses hybrid at 22/21 and you're looking to swap out Velocity with another non-poly cross, I would keep the tension the same for both mains and crosses, for starters anyways.

Thanks a lot for all the great answers!! Big Help for me!

What do you think which of the 5 possible Mains IS the softest and Most comfortable? Possible to rank them?

yonex poly Tour pro 1,15
Kirschbaum pro Line 2 in 1,15
Hyper g soft in 1,15
Signum pro hyperion 1,18
Black Knight 1,18

Which one would you prefer as Main?

Thanks so much

From personal experience, I'd say, from most soft --> most firm: KB PL II 1.15 < PTP 1.15 < BK 1.18 < HGS 1.15 < SPH 1.18

As for a preference of which to use as a main, it somewhat depends on the racquet and what specific playability qualities the junior in question is looking for, but short of knowing any of that, I would probably lean towards BK .118 or HGS 1.15, as both will offer more ball bite/grip than the round stuff, plus better tension maintenance and longer-lasting playability than PL II or PTP, and slightly longer than SPH.

Hope that helps.

Hyper G soft! I hybrid it with VS Gut and delivers a nice plush pocket with plenty of spin. Good tension retention! I loved regular Hyper G and tried the soft version when it came out....I didnt notice much of a difference. I string it at 52 (mains at 55).

Yes thanks a lot. Would have expected hyper g soft to bei softer....but i SAW that Data for hyper g soft 1,25 (Not 1,15) are quite different. Tennis university data say quite soft...while Racket Pedia AVG. stiftness is quite high for hgs....KB pro Line 2 plays only good for some hours right?

Racket is yonex vcore 100L 280g. Looking First for more Control, second Spin.

Last Question. So thankful you spent so much time for me!

If i compare possible crosses

MSV Swift 1,25mm
Rpm soft 1,25
Kirschbaum syngut Premium 1,25
Head RIP control 1,25

Ist there a big difference in comfort / stiftness or all about the Same?

Swift Most unkomfortable because IT IS a Poly? What about the Others?

Swift in Mains only last 1 or 2 hours ..

That is why i want Poly 1,15-1,18 in Mains with crosses in of them:

MSV Swift 1,25mm
Rpm soft 1,25
Kirschbaum syngut Premium 1,25
Head RIP control 1,25

Ist there a big difference in comfort / stiftness or all about the Same? Durablity?

1 30mm swift last 2 hours? Then 1.15 mm poly will last 1

I know...but you wrote "Then 1.15 mm poly will last 1 h"....i know that Swift IS much softer...
