@NRMM I see you in your op that you dont wanna go below 48 lbs in a full bed because of control. Is that a feeling or did you try it already?
question for everyone here. Would a more powerful/soft string in the cross also give a loss of some control that is not too different from the loss of control you get when lowering tension?
example: which has more control?
1. fb lynx tour 44-42 lbs
2. lynx tour / syn gut 48-52 or 50-54
OP, have you actually tried lower tensions? I mean in the really low 40s or even 30s?
After testing many different string/tension combinations, I actually feel that you are operating in the "least controlled" tension range which, for me, is between 44-49 lbs.
When I returned to the game and entered the world of poly strings, I used to play with tensions between 52-55 lbs and, while I had great control, it always felt a little "boardy".
So, when I got my stringing machine I decided to try lowering the tension of my strings to see which would feel the best in terms of comfort and control/spin.
I ended settling at around 41 lbs for my mains and 37 lbs for my crosses which gives me the same level of control, but with much better pocketing and comfort.
I really think it's worth a try, as you might be as a surprised as I was with the results.
