Last 4 -5 years?Zverev was absolute monster in this match. Probably the best non Djokovic HC performance in the last 4-5 years. Absolutely fantastic level of tennis by the young German yesterday night.
Zverev didn't play like a mug. Just stop it. He played his heart out and gave his best GS performance. He would have beaten anyone except Novak.
We can do all kinds of retrospective analysis and find fault with Zed. But the Fact is Novak is too good and too clutch. No one would have beaten him yesterday. Not Fed, not Nadal. It doesn't matter what you do, Novak always finds a way to win.
Where are the folks who said Zverev will win. LOL.
The Mug is going to get BAGELED in this set. What a pathetic performance on the big stage.
Everyone knew this from a mile away.
NoThe way Zverev played last night he would have beat anyone on the other side of the net except Novak.
Lol. Sure.
Djokovic displayed one of the highest clay court level in 2020 RG final but he came second best.Lol. Sure.
The way Zverev played last night he would have beat anyone on the other side of the net except Novak.
TennisFan3 in a nutshell.Huh?
It seems video was manipulated by youtube upoloader, he wasnt crying
I'm no fan of Zverev, but I found his presser reasonable and mature. He handled the questions well, answered honestly and showed some class. He's a bit too complimentary of Djokovic (I prefer the Jimmy Connors approach to opponents), but I give Zverev high marks after a tough loss.
Didn't Federer cry after losing to Nadal?@Hitman - Have you seen Nadal or Novak cry after losing to greats in close matches early in their career? or even Fed, never saw him cry after losing to Agassi or all those fellows...
These guys are weak, I am telling you bro, he is giving stats at the press conference to justify why Novak is GOAT instead of saying today was not his day but next time he will do better.
This happens when a player does not believe that he can do better next time, it is a psychological thing I tell you, he probably doubting himself on what he can do different next time as well...
That was in 2009, not "early in his career," and that was the criterion.Didn't Federer cry after losing to Nadal?
He didn’t cry. Or at least he didn’t look like he did during the PC. The video is doctored. Whoever made the video in the OP played around with the colors to make Zverev’s face & eyes look red.
This is the official PC video. His eyes and face look normal.
You compare apples to zucchinis, lol. If Djokovic wins on Sunday, his CYGS will have greater value than both of Laver's CYGS. The reasons are surface diversity, in Laver's time there were no HC grandslams and in the case of 1962 the prohibition of professional competition. This is one indicator that we have a weak era now. If Djokovic wins the GS tomorrow, this will not rank among the great Grand Slams, it would be more like Laver's 1962 grand slam, which was won over some outstanding players, but not top-30 all-time great players. Only Emerson, Santana offered serious opposition that year in 1962.
Nole CYGS has no value since he win it mostly against mugs according to BeckerserveYou compare apples to zucchinis, lol. This is utterly ridiculous. These young guys barely played top Rafa or Fed. They simply don't know.
What's "Jimmy Connors approach to opponents"? Could someone tell me? I'd be grateful.
You joke....they had grass in those days, three different types of grass. You compare apples to zucchinis, lol. If Djokovic wins on Sunday, his CYGS will have greater value than both of Laver's CYGS. Yes, grass, weed and that red soil where the grass didn't quite manage to grow. You joke....they had grass in those days, three different types of grass.
Can't believe I am saying this but I feel sorry for Zverev tbh.He is committed to tennis, at his best he can be a beast and he wants to win badly, to prove himself, but he can't break through Djokovic's aura and confidence.Whatever he throws at Novak, the Serb keeps on coming after him
Exactly. Net play and mental coach. The strange part is that I see the aggression, the spirit. The longer he is seamless the worse his mental game can become. Also his winning streak ended and he won't be a golden boy anymore! They promoted him A LOT during the USO. Probably hoping to find a next gen star with a bonus of good looks.i do worry about sasha... somewhat,,, with his game,, he should have won 3-4 majors by now,,,, but he lost them all. and showed mental breakdown in tough points of the match. he may need to hire Ivan Lendl as coach
LolYou joke....they had grass in those days, three different types of grass.
Excuse me, but the statement above is just rubbish. Grand Slam is a Grand Slam!If Djokovic wins the GS tomorrow, this will not rank among the great Grand Slams.
No, there are strong field GS and weak field GS...1938 was also a weak field GS.Excuse me, but the statement above is just rubbish. Grand Slam is a Grand Slam!
Let's agree to disagree. All the best. No, there are strong field GS and weak field GS...1938 was also a weak field GS.
My point of view on this is the standard one.Let's agree to disagree. All the best.
So these young guys get criticized regardless of what they do .Read again
Red the fine print
Read carefully
You might find something like "early in their career"
So these young guys get criticized regardless of what they do .
They lose and don’t cry and get criticized for being complacent and not caring enough.
They lose and cry and get criticized for being emotionally vulnerable.
When they lose they are not supposed to come to the press conference to praise Novak's masters/weeks at 1 type stuffs, that is irrelevant to them.
They are supposed to come to the press conference all angry on how they missed a chance, they should say that next time they will do better and they should do better by learning from mistakes, that is what ATGs do.
So Sascha saying Novak is GOAT, weeks at 1, masters etc etc is like Novak eating his share of the pie and he being ok with it, that is quite bad for sascha himself
A killer attitude is needed.
It is shocking that Zverev has not yet registered a win vs a top 10 in 10 slam matches.
That is too much
Even Meddy and Stefan have registered some wins, Thiem has a good % vs top 10 among these guys
Z is just saying it the way it is. No two ways about it. The players see Djoko as the best.

Like Djokovic saying he was in control of the match when he lost in straight sets against Nadal
LolMy point of view on this is the standard one.
Lucky you to see it in person!Let me tell you Sasha played his heart out. I was there last night, center court 1st row section 128 up in the first balcony. He was working hard every point. He was crushing the ball and Novak hung right with him. He was throwing in 136mph 2nd serves and they were coming back. Novak is just on a different level. His serve, in person is so impressive, you just can't even compare to watching on television. They left it out there and the better player won. Sasha will have his day for sure. He has a beautiful game, solid mechanics and if he stays hungry he will will one.
