Curious’ match/practice videos

Well then what would you describe that motion as
He over-swings and can't maintain proper balance in follow-thru.

zilfh.jpg

As for why or how his over-swings happen, be my guest and guess ... :)

As long as they are genuine pics off a single shot, its okay.
Good.

I think @Curious underestimates your tolerance and truth acceptance :) I know you better.

I didn't make up those pixs, right?

It is what it is.

Making good observations n giving quality inputs is a thankless job. That's why I rarely do, and I will stop here with this instance.

No point in wasting my skills ...
This skill is much more productive in other areas ;)

Zero likes for my post 7056 to show appreciation for my time/effort and super quality inputs, but posts that comment on it got likes!!

See, how thankless this tips giving biz is?

To a lesser man, like BMG for example, he's gonna turn bitter and resentful and go on to become negative... :cautious::oops: ... :giggle:

Not me though... I'm good (ok, this sounds too much like zill but it's true though) :p

VP - it's your time to shine.. I have lost interest and am semi-retired from TT.

Ok guys, I’m finally conceding defeat on my bh battle!
I think the problem with my bh is that I just don’t feel comfortable if I coil/turn as much as optimal. It’s like forcing myself to write or eat with left hand. Is it because of my eyesight or neck inflexibility or something else I don’t know.
So from now on I won’t be trying to fix it and I’ll use it only when I’m really in a good position, otherwise I’ll be working on improving my slice.
Hit another 2 hours of backhands with @zill today and came to this conclusion.

could have gotten it fixed in the Academy.. the issues are well documented.

but that's a big 'could'.

Imagine an archer or hunter trying to launch arrows without locking out the bow-holding arm? How are you going to pull the string back properly? If he wasn’t going to get his feet set before his take back was complete he had no chance. He refused to fix that and is right to give up. If he can develop a low skidding slice, his bh will give opponents a much harder time than that weak topspin drive ever did.

Too bad, keep at it.

Did zill give you lot of input during your rally? given how he is with you on TT :)

Best of luck with your realization, C.

To me you're enjoying your journey fully, like @ballmachineguy @zill and other guys :D

Is it uncomfortable as in physical pain or just feels more uncoordinated?

I always try to hit the easier shot. Slice is considered generally safer but for me hitting more topspin backhands feels safer than slicing tbh. Height (high balls) of the ball and pace makes topspin or blocks easier, lower bounces and further away balls makes slice the easier shot

If youre left eye dominant morotorglu would say hit more neutral or open stance bhs. It works for me, im cross eye dominant and make less mistakes from that change.

No physical discomfort or difficulty. I’m right eye dominant.
I just don’t feel the connection with the incoming ball on the backhand side. I can’t set up which I don’t feel on the forehand.

He doesn't listen to me.

Try the two turns next time. I told @StringSnapper about it and he said it helped his bh a lot. You don't have many things to try. This could be your last resort.

We did some forehands yesterday as well. Here they are:

C's problem lies somewhere else. It's not really his stroke or even physical per se.
It's a classic one though.

Oh, it’s the stroke.

user9 says his stroke issues are not stroke related and you say the stroke issues are stroke related.

in other words, he says 2 is not really 2 and you say 2 is actually 2? it’s next level discussion for sure.
please continue and entertain us further. we deserve nothing less.

While your FH has improved, you are not staying with your shot (lifting your head too soon on the BH side, it seems); overall, progress though!

Yep, enough with details of stroke mechanics. I’ll keep the strokes as they are and focus on a few major things from now on:
- split step (nonnegotiable)
- keep my head still at contact
- lower center of gravity
