Current and future college players in ATP events

There are a lot in futures every week. This week KU Singh is in the 2nd round of the Pune,India future. Former college players Saketh Myneni and Jeevan Neducheziyan are in the tournament as well. KU's rank is up in the 600's now which is very good for a college player and usually indicative of a top player in the NCAA.

The UVA commits also competed in a future. the one in Florida.

Also the Champaign challenger saw some Illini compete.

Ok there are tons and tons in action this summer. A lot in Europe, home for the summer.

In France. Jomby def world number 379. and Diep def Andersen 6-1 6-0. Two impressive wins for SEC players.

Lots of college players have been doing quite well in future events.

Rochester:

future Deamon Deacon Morgan Mays gets plastered by Reid Carleton 6-0 6-0.

Novikov def Podzus. Good win

Evan King routed Carter of Louisivlle 1 and 0

Tahir continues his tear, pounding Petrone of Michigan.

anyone know anything about the Podzus brothers from Latvia? Are they looking at college, probably since they have been playing in the USA a lot. Both very solid looking players.

Several Georgia Bulldogs and GT Jackets in action today in Atlanta at the BB&T Atlanta Open.

Nathan Pasha just took the 1st set from world #173 Rik De Voest 7-6.

Former Dawgs Ignacio Taboada, Wil Spencer, and Drake Bernstein are playing today as well in the 1st round of Qualies. Spencer is playing former Jacket Kevin King, Taboada is facing #148 Ricardas Berankis, & Bernstein playing former Kentucky Wildcat Bradley Cox.

Former Jacket Dean O'Brien is facing #211 Alex Kuznetsov & Juan Spir is facing Catalin Gard.

Live Scoreboard

Pasha was serving up 4-2 in the 3rd and lost 4 of the last 5 games. King handled Spencer 6-4 6-3, and Taboada got whipped 6-2 6-1. A lot of wildcards in the qualies - just as many people with no ranking as with any ranking. Jack Sock's brother, Eric, got a wildcard in qualies and he lost more matches than he won at #6 singles for Nebraska.

Yeah I know. That has to be the weakest qualie field ive ever seen for an ATP event. The Binghampton challenger qualies took to be just as good.

Add Georgia's Drake Bernstein to the list of college winners at the Atlanta BB&T with a nice win over Bradley Cox formerly of Kentucky

Ryan Lipman and Gonzales Austin of Vanderbilt are playing today in the final round of qualies at the Joplin MO Future. I assume Lipman will play 1 next year with Austin at 2.

UVA recruit Mac Styslinger is into the final round of qualies along with several other collegians - Jackson Withrow & Jordan Szabo (Texas A&M), David Holiner (Texas), Zach White (Mississippi State), & Clifford Marsland (Tulsa)

Joplin Qualies

Binghamton Challenger

UVAs Mitchell Frank is playing former ODU & UCLA star Harel Srugo around 2pm in the final round of qualies - Live Scoreboard - change event to Binghamton if something else comes up

also Michael Lippens of Louisville and Chris Haworth of OK State.

I will be going to the Atlanta event tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing SJ who ive seen in college a few times vs one of my favorite pros Donald Young.

There's a lot of buzz about that match - enjoy!
(gotta admit though, I'm an SJ fan, just like to see college guys do well I suppose) Should be great tennis.

Recent grads Chase Buchanan (Ohio State) and Drew Courtney (Virginia) won the Rochester Futures doubles title. That was the first pro event for Courtney, and Buchanan has been on a tear since about April.

A couple of interesting results as well. As both of the lower naked guys on the team win. Szabo edges Withrow in a 3rd set breaker. While Austin def Lipman 7-6(2) 6-0. I wonder how that will effect things for those teams.

Isade Juneau from Indiana got a WC into qualifying at the Granby challenger and has won 3 rounds to qualify. He plays the Mexican Daniel Garza in round one and even if he loses will jump close to 300 places higher.

He had a great draw to qualify beating a 37 year old 76 in the third and then a 17 year old.

KU Singh into the semis of a future in Coimbatore,India.

also Texas' Sitaram lost in the 2nd round of that Indian future 1-6 7-6(4) 6-1 to former UTSA player Vijayragavan.

Farmers Classic - LA

Bradley Klahn gets a 6-2 3-0 win over Ricardo Hocevar and gets Tim Smyczek next week. Smyczek knocked off Mitchell Frank 6-1 6-4.

Clay Thompson beat Marcos Giron 6-3 4-6 6-4 and draws Ricardas Berankis in the next round.

Nick Meister beat Ilija Bozoljac 7-5 6-0 and draws Rik De Voest who knocked off Ray Sarmiento 3-6 6-1 6-0

Lexington Challenger

Tennessee's Hunter Reese was the lucky winner of the day when his opponent, Takao Suzuki, retired while leading 6-4 4-1.
Ohio State's Hunter Callahan beat Tennessee's Jarryd Chaplin 3-6 7-5 7-5. Virginia's Jarmere Jenkins whipped Shuichi Sekiguchi 6-0 6-3.
Future Duke Blue Devil Michael Redlicki beat former LSU #1 Michael Venus 7-6 6-3.
Kentucky's Ryuji Hirooka got double bageled by Thomas Fabbiano #295. Hirooka didn't even crack the singles lineup for Kentucky last year so this result isn't too surprising.

Uh-oh. Sounds like another college sports scandal. :)

Jarmere Jenkins won again today in Lexington beating former Va Tech Hokie Patrick Daciek 6-3 6-3 and will meet former Texas A&M Aggie Austin Krajicek for a spot in the main draw.

Ohio State's Blaz Rola #608 lost in the 1st round of an Austrian Future to a fellow Slovenian Tomislav Ternar #856 6-4 6-2. Rola had been on a pretty good roll.
Georgia's KU Singh #816 came up short in the semis of an India Future losing to N Prashanth #753 6-4 3-6 6-2
Florida's Florent Diep #1084 lost in the quarters of a French Future to unranked Frenchie Nicolas Tourte 6-3 5-7 6-4. Tourte was ranked as high as 103 back in 2007.

Top Dawg, you and some of the other guys are amazing. I have enough trouble keeping up with just the Illini. Do you ever sleep?

This time of a year there isn't much going on - usually gives me something to do to pass time on the weekends.

Future Blue Devil Redlicki blasts Simmonds. Duke is going to be pretty salty with two lefties at the top of thier line-up(Redlicki will play #2 at least)

Yeah same here. I'm just like getting more and more addicted to tennis and seeing college names in draws is pretty cool. I follow tennis ATP,challenger, future, junior, college. Great sport.

Tourte was 103 in Doubles! 215 in singles

This is awesome! I'm a recent college graduate and would like to know where you guys are finding the info on all the recent college grads. Is there a list out there that shows the current and graduated players duking it out on the tour??
