current/post collegians in spring/summer ATP events

Ok my bad. But I think the point still stands. And in terms of residence time, both of them spent a season at their alma mater even though Nakashima played more matches.
Yes. In 2018 Nakashima played 60 matches. Mixture of pro, USTA, and junior ITF. Playing all the junior majors. Number 3 junior in the world.

In 2019 , his entire college year, he played 22 college matches, and a total of 72. Mixture of pro, usta , and junior ITF.

Sebastian Gornzy who received the collegiate challenge WC won his 1st rd beating a player ranked around #40 in the world. He was ranked 731 aTP pre USO; his current live ranking is 472. He lost to Med in straight set but had a competive 3rd set losing 5-7.

Michael Zheng, another WC with college ties, won his 1st round in straights beating a player ranked around 60 in the world. He plays a tough 2nd round tonight vs Y Bu who eviscerated Jodar 2,1,1

Looking forward to Learner Tien playing Monfils tonight in 2nd rd.

Yeah, Zheng has a good opportunity here, though Gea has beat him twice already this year. Zheng is losing 150 points through the end of September (he won 2 Challenger 75s last September), and getting into R4 would really help him for the 2027 AO.

Ohio State student athletes Nikita Filin and Branden Carpico, playing on a USTA wild card, shocked the US Open crowds with a first round doubles upset of No. 8 seeds Matos and Luz, on Friday.
Sunday they took down the reigning Olympic doubles gold medalist (Peers) and former Wimbledon doubles champ (Melo) on the grandstand court.

Shelbayh had hit the skids a bit. Interestingly he lost to Zink in the semis at Tiburon last year. So a redemption of sorts for him.

Gorzny has quickly established himself at the Challenger level. Ofc the USO run was impressive too.

Good to see Nakashima Jr making a splash. Like his game.

Somewhat odd results in Tiburon SF/F as Darwin Blanch takes out Zheng in 2 tiebreaks and Michael Moh routines JJ Wolf 2 and 2. Blanch wins Final over Moh in 3, for his first Challenger title. Feels like Blanch has been around awhile (getting WC's as a 16 yr old to Miami and Madrid), but he's still only 18 (for another week at least).

Dietrich (UVA) is having a great Columbus Challenger taking out Wolf and now the top seed Blanch in straights. Wonder if he’ll return for his senior year if he has Jodar-like results in the Fall Challengers.
