Customizing Pure Strike 100 (PO7)

Hi, due to some elbow issues that I had this summer playing volleyball and still not completely solved, I'm considering for the start of this season to lower the string tension and adding more weight to the racquet aiming to get more stability and comfort. Let me underline that I am considering customizing my racquet as it is much cheaper than buying a softer and arm friendly racquet and obviously I like the racquet I am using.

The racquet is a Pure Strike 100, 300 g unstrung 31.8 cm balance. Almost in specs! I am an aggressive baseliner (ITR 5.0) playing with one handed backhand and with topspin on both strokes. Some of the previous racquet that I had and enjoyed the most were the Babolat Pure Drive Roddick 2009 and the Wilson Blade BLX and what I am searching is something in between the power of the first and the stability of the second.

I am completely new to customizing racquet, what I want to do is to add weight and reach 315 g weight unstrung and to get a more headlight balance, let's say something around 31/31.5 cm unstrung. So what I want to do is to add 3+3 grams at 3 and 9 o'clock and 9 grams in the butt cap. Currently I am using as strings the Signum Pro Firestorm at 23/23 kg and I want to restrung my racquet with 20/20 kg. Is what I am considering to wrong? Any suggestions accepted.

Adding weight to the butt cap will increase the overall weight of the racquet without effecting the swing weight. Adding weight at 3 and 9 o’clock will increase torsional stability. If you want to keep it head light, go a little lower than 3 and 9 o’clock. For soft strings, one of the gold standards is Wilson NXT which is a multifilament. For a soft poly string, one of the best is Solinco Tour Bite SOFT or Luxilon Alu Power SOFT, or Luxilon Element. I think your approach to what you are doing is right on track.

Warm regards,
