Custumizing the bumper guard LM radical

I want to reduce the swingweight of my son's LM radical MP (he's 11) and I was thinking of reducing the size of the bumper guard to a minimum. Is it a good idea and is there a How-to somewhere I can use? I have spare new bumpers so I feel safe and he also has 2 radicals so he will be able to compare and decide what he likes the most.
Thanks for your ideas.

I would just remove it all together, it will reduce the weight, swingweight and make the racket more HL. If you dont want to do that you can just sand or shave it down until you get to the right swing weight.

If I remove it completly, should I put teflon tubing in the holes to protect the strings from abrasion on the bare frame?

Yeah that should do te trick, when i did it to some of my frames in the past i used the clear pipe that can be found in hardware stores.

Hope it goes well.
