Cutting out hybrid mains

I'm using a hybrid with poly mains and gut crosses. Can I cut out the mains and restring so I can try different mains? Would I need to adjust my tension because I'm stringing the mains last?

Syn or Multi Crosses

I'm sure you want to keep your gut because of the cost. Syn Guts and Multi's are popular in Hybrids because they are somewhat soft, but are a lot easier to cut out than gut because they can be so cheap. Durability is not an issue since the poly's typically go dead around the same time the syn gut or multi starts to seriously notch or fray, respectively.

Not a good idea, treo. Doing this would put your racquet under a lot of pressure across the face of the racquet and it would probably deform. The sides would squeeze inward and the frame would elongate. Even if you mounted the frame on your machine this would occur.
