Now except for the Bull who chose to save himself for the dirt, all top players will be there in NY to compete.

Great news for the tournaments, fans and tennis. Let the fun begin. Can't wait!!

Rooting for the guy to win it all actually. Loved his fighting spirt in last year's final, and he is one of the few top players not to have disgraced himself during this pandemic.
I don't see how Fed or Rafa have disgraced themselves, I assume you mean those in the under 30 crowd. Fed and Rafa both quarantined and behaved responsibly, as they invariably do.

I wasn't talking about Fed and Rafa. They were classy ambassadors of the sport during the pandemic. Not all top players disgraced themselves, but too many of them did. And we know who they are so no need to rehash it by calling out names.

Those are probably the best guys that are next up, but can we please not call them "Fab 4"? lol.
How about The Fearsome 4?
I just give them that respect because we've seen all 4 of them at their top level push the big 3 hard.

Thiem has beaten all members of the big 3 in Masters multiple times and beaten the big 2 in Grand Slams.
Tsitsipas has beaten all members of the big 3 in Masters and beaten Federer in a Grand Slam.
Zverev has beaten all members of the big 3 in Masters (beat Nadal at WTF RR stage)
Medvedev has beaten Djokovic multiple times in Masters and pushed Nadal to 5 in his first Slam final.

I think we're getting a brand new winner at the US Open this year! There's no reason not to believe that Dominic Thiem or Daniil Medvedev can't win the US Open this year with Nadal and Stan Wawrinka out of the tournament. Neither of them have any fear of Djokovic on clay or fast hards surfaces. If this was Melbourne, I'd put Djoker as the favourite. On US Open surface, he isn't half as intimidating.

I'm afraid you may be right. Especially with the pandemic and everything. May be seeing a new RG winner as well. I'm kind of hoping Djokovic wins both though.

I don't mind who wins as I believe an earned win is an earned win. But I'm thinking if there was ever a time for resistance and a brand new winner from a new generation, this is the tournament where it will happen.

Yup, this is a huge opportunity for non-big4. Sad it had to happen like this. Really needed a pandemic in order to break through at a slam.

I say big 4 because Murray is in the draw.

I’m rooting for a Djokovic-Thiem final. Their 5-setters at the 2019 FO and the 2020 AO were both highly entertaining. I love seeing Thiem bossing around Djokovic from the baseline with pace and heavy spin on both wings and Novak trying to figure out ways to win. Thiem-Nadal is fun to watch too, but we will have to wait till the FO for that. I think Thiem‘s battles with the Big 3 (great match with Fed in the IW final last year too) have become the best matches to watch outside of watching the Big 3 battle each other.

Agreed, but that Med Nadal USO final probably tops all of Thiem's matches. That was something special.

His 2020 before CV-16 wasn't stellar, so he will probably lose in early rounds.

You never know....the break may have been what he needed to refresh him. Med had such a long and grueling season last year getting to so many finals, that he was clearly burnt out by the time the ATP finals happened. And the tennis off season is pretty short, so he probably didn't come into the 2020 season feeling like he'd had much of a break.

As long as he's kept sharp in practice and drills, the break may have had the effect of mentally and physically recovering him from last season.

Med spent the lockdown in Monte Carlo and practiced consistently throughout the break, so he should be fine. I don't worry about his fitness or lack of match play (everyone will have that, obviously), I worry about his mentality. That choke against Rafa at last year's YEC was brutal.
