Daniil Medvedev is not only the tallest guy to reach no 1 position in ATP rankings, but also a phenom with absolutely unorthodox style of play. Called Octopus by his colleagues and fans, he knows how to be very inconvenient to his opponents. For sure his racquet is one of the most important part of his magic.

He burst onto the top scene during American hardcourt summer in 2019. And today I present you HIS PERSONAL RACQUET right from those tournaments!

First of all, there are tonns of rumors about headsize of Medvedev's Tecnifibre racquet.
We know that before 2015 he played with Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 with 95 headsize.
In 2015 he switched to Pro Staff RF 97, but he returned to 95 headsize in 2016 when he made his transfer to Tecnifibre (T-Fight Dynacore 305).

Some people are sure: Medvedev still plays with 95 headsize, even that from 2017 he used T-Fight Dynacore DC3 that was 98 headsize in retail.

Medvedev's breakthrough came in 2019 with T-Fight XTC 305 model. And still a lot of hunters for sensation were sure - that was a paintjob over T-Fight Dynacore 305 (that was 95 in headsize). Some even thought that Tecnifibre copied his previous Wilson PS 6.1 95 mold, made it without PWS and that was it.

Today you will learn the truth from 2019 personal racquet of Daniil Medvedev that I was happy to add to my huge collection.

And YES - it's real 98 headsize!!! And no connections to Wilson PS 6.1 95. This is totally a product of Tecnifibre engineers.

So, Daniil Medvedev is no more member of 95 club where Novak Djokovic is the legit president.

Also I present you some other interesting details from examination of Medvedev's personal racquet.

It has a leadtape from 10:30 till 1:30 position.

The static weight is 352 grams without dampener.
Swingweight - 351 without dampener.
18/19, 4 3/8 gripsize and Tecnifibre overgrip.

Thank you! I shared all the info I had. I don't have machine to find out stiffness. Strings - i didn't find any namings on these white strings, so I can't be sure what strings are those

Nice! The swingweight was higher than everyone figured, most assumed his frame was really headlight, at around a 340 SW.

To be honest I’m actually disappointed though to find out he’s been using a 98 all this time, I thought he’d just changed FROM a 95 to a 98 this year to try (unsuccessfully) to get more power. This just further confirms to me that he can’t do anything to get any better, and that it’s hopeless. For all the crap many (including me) have given him for being stubborn, he’s shown more willingness than most to try different things and adapt his game, he’s mixed up his returning positioning, tried to come to net more, changed his strings, and significantly lowered his ball toss, all within the last year. But that makes it worse, because now he HAS tried everything and it’s made no difference.

I’ve spent the last few days grieving over it, and I had a long session of reminiscing last night, listening to sad music. I was inspired to come up with some more material for another possible article about him. It would be totally secular this time, and a lot shorter than the previous one I did, it might be a good way to get some closure on the intense feelings I’m having right now. I don’t know for sure if I’ll follow through with it, but if I do, I’ll post it here.

I’d intended to be done on here, but this was too cool for me not to comment on. Thanks @Kalugin!

Pretty interesting - It seems he has mucked around with specs quite a bit over his career. I have pics of his personal, around same static weight, strung December 2021, SW is 327

Huh, interesting.

I’d heard he went lower on his weight for the AO this year, maybe he later went up to 340 and is now back down to 328?

So, as exciting and well written story in the OP, the info may be outdated? Bummer.
2019 was 6 years ago...I'd expect that he went through a few spec changes...assuming he stuck with the same racket.
Yeah, really frustrating as fans to not know for sure.

The supposed story is that he’d gone to a pro stock 98 (DC mold with a new layup) with lower weight for the AO, but that was assuming he was using a 95 before, which apparently we all wrongly thought.

Absolute gem ! What is the balance ? Have you played with it yet ?
Length - 68,6 cm,
Balance - around 31,5 cm.
No-no-no. As a collector of tennis stars personal racquets I'm not playing them, but just enjoy them on my walls, like van Gogh, Magritte paintings) I did it once with personal racquet of my favorite guy named Rafa) my personal racquets fit me more and I enjoy them way more)
i get really excited when you post a thread with "secrets" in the title, this one did not disappoint

cheers kalugin
Thank you very much!
Can you pop open the butt cap to see if there’s silicone in there?
There is no butt cap trap door, so to find silicone you have to remove butt cap. But for me these type if racquets are super valuable to be taken apart. Anyway it's no way it wouldn't be silicone there.

Thanks Jake! Your favorite player will shine again, believe in him)

I don't care whether it's 2019 or 2025, that is a personal racquet of ex no 1 player from his breakthrough summer - and that is the most important thing for me.

Balls are changing..... That's why players are changing racquets and strings too. Good insights but I don't think it's his racquet now. Moreover, he and alex are most verbal about ball situation.

Only thing left he could do is try a 100 inch in a more open pattern, but unfortunately, you can mess with your equipment all day, at the end of the day you are still the same player. That’s why I’m done with tennis now, I don’t want to watch him circle the drain now, especially with how unhappy he is.

Noting there's about 2.5mm horizontal radius and 3.2mm vertical radius between a 95 & 98sqi racket, ie virtually indistinguishable, what would probably help reveal the mould would be the beam width?

Thanks. Great info. Which strings? And RA number?
If they haven’t been changed, original Razor Code since that’s what he was using then (it had just been released in white shortly before that).

As for the stiffness, if it’s based off the XTC, then approximately 65.

latest info is that he’s been running three different string setups. I saw a stringer confirm it in a video recently. I believe it was razor soft white full bed, razor soft and hut hybrid, and razor code full bed. I might have the string setups ups wrong but i believe that was it.

Oh yeah, he’s been doing an insane amount of changing around recently. But unfortunately none of it is working, he’s just not capable of producing his own power.
