His year has definitely been a let down after that run he had last year, but I think you have to put it in some sort of context. He's a terrible clay courter, and two of the only five really significant tournaments played this year were on clay.

At the other three it took good efforts from good players to beat him. Let's not forget just how hyped his match with Thiem in New York was. As hyped a match featuring no big 3 players as there has been in a while. He earned that hype by looking pretty gosh darn good indeed.

I always felt his season last year might have been an anomaly. It happens. The only way we'll know is as he goes forward. But, I don't know that his game can hold up as a top 10 for an entire career. I could be wrong.

Med is so overhyped. He thinks he’s cool, but in reality he’s just another next-gen with a bad attitude and temper issues.

I don't think so, his game was just different than most other players' games and he took a lot of opponents by surprise. The coaches have now figured him out and he will lose more often than before.

Interesting to hear Medvedev yelling "Allez!" in this match. I guess moving to France with his family and training in a French tennis academy as well as having a French coach made him French.
