Hi @TW Staff , sorry for the tag I was gonna make a thread in the meta/tw board but it seems closed to posting for some reason

just wondering if it was possible/how it's going with making a dark mode for the forum? it would be nice to not fry our eyes when browsing here lol
i'm gonna play around with a user script browser plugin this morning or something and if I can make an easy way of doing that I'll post it here for you guys to use but a native setting would be awesome for mobile users in particular

cheers

Edit: Night mode on Brave mobile browser works really well on this site. I'd suggest upgrading to Brave, Chrome mobile sucks anyway.
And I've posted a desktop addon that works below

but this doesn't help for mobile. i'll play around with brave mobile and see if i can find something

Okay brave night mode works well. looks like that's problem mostly solved but a night mode hard option would still be good web design

What about those using the Amazon Fire Tablet with built in Silk Browser. Please advise.

Okay this addon seems to work acceptably

Chrome

Firefox

just toggle it to dark and TW is suddenly useable
You using Chrome at the moment? Got this plugin, but nothing doing.

P.S. Might be something I have to toggle in the settings...?

after you add it to chrome you should get an icon for the addon on top right in the form of a toggle switch. you might have to restart/refresh the browser

Flashed a message about something to that effect, but gonzo. Tried going directly to the settings - no dice. Just on a Chromebook rn. Does something conflict?

EDIT: lol... different. The boxes around replies are a bit clunky. But it's something.

Every other week I wish TTW had a dark mode. Posting a request for it every other year seems appropriate. :) Native dark mode please! "That other WTA forum" has a dark mode, and it's quite pleasant:

I have to admit that I sometimes go there first instead of visiting TTW, simply because the dark theme. But then I always come back here anyway.

Currently waking up the gf by checking on TTW’s blindingly white forum in the dark. That dark theme can't come soon enough.

Here is a great switch that can easily be added to the forums, if they want.

Chrome://flags

"Darken websites checkbox in the settings"
Enable it.
Reboot Chrome
Tick the option from settings>theme.

Boom.

On mozilla mobile or desktop or chrome desktop, install "dark reader" addon.

Currently sitting outside after sunset, the sound of crickets in the air, a first planet appears in the dark blue sky, while a blindingly white TTW forum blasts in my face. :(

Sure, we can hack, install extensions from possibly untrustworthy sources (not saying this is the case here, but handy extensions are sometimes subverted after changing owner etc), come up with custom solutions for each browser and platform, but what would be much better is an integrated dark mode. Pretty please?

Mods, is there any talk at all about implementing this? It’s a “set and forget“ kind of thing. Once you design the theme and add a button, it’s done, no maintenance needed afaik. Would be a huge improvement.
