David Goffin got a gift to refuse from Novak?

Zverev in 2015 and now Goffin in 2016 pre Wimbledon exibition. Both have won against Novak.

You can watch entire match on Youtube. Now this comes from Novak fan and countryman. Watching first set Novak 5-3 and 3 set points he starts mocking around and plays a shameful tennis. He is number one in the world and this intentional loss was disrespectful for any tennis fan. I can't imagine Nadal or Federer would drop a match like this just because is not an ATP tournament. After the match interview with Goffin when asked how he felt that he won against No1 of the world he just bitter smiles and walks away. Moment after Novak gives a press interview for most famous Serbian television and i will quote/translate it on English.

When asked: "Can you win a GYGS this year?"

"Ne želim da zvučim arogantno, ali zaista mislim da je u životu sve dostižno. Bez obzira da li ću ostvarili kalendarski Slem ili ne, uvek postoji mogućnost"

"I don't want to sound arrogant, but i really think that you can achieve anything in life. Will i manage to achieve calendar GS or not, there is always possibility"

Well he doesn't want to sound but 1 hour before an interview he proves that he was arrogant. It's hard to understand our mentality but he wanted to play low mind game with the rest of the tour to show that he is actually "beatable" for upcoming Wimbledon and there he will be unstoppable...

If i was David Goffin today. Once the match was over and we where out of the field, i would have spit in hes face.

Nothing he ever did can't compare with what he have done today. Disgrace...

I've translated in the way he said it. He doesn't want to sound arrogant about weather will he complete CYGS or not but there is always a possibility to do it.

And "We" as i have mentioned above "Countryman", means Serbs.

I simply can not. I am following him since 2006 and this behavior is just silly. He is 29 year old living legend and he doesn't have a right to act and behave like this to any opponent. What is the point of playing if not to win. Sure it is not relevant match and he can play it like a training match but trust me i watched him live many times and hes training level is 10 times harder and more serious then he was playing today.

You are saying that i am not Novak fan? I am following him for 10 years now. Every single tournament. He's parents restaurant is 100 meters away from my apartment m8. I don't care about he lost an exo match at all. I care about the way he lost it and what he said after...

And he was joking in between points, communicated with crowd, smiling, he just didn't want to put everything in that match while Goffin took that match pretty seriously - he couldn't even make one joke for Christ sake.

The very fact that it was an exhibition makes it totally irrelevant how he played and what was the end result.

And for your information, Novak's interview that you translated happened before the Boodles exhibition with Goffin, not after it.

Really? Alright, i guess i got played out by our media then... if he said that before the Boodles then there is nothing wrong, but if he had said it right after that match it would be ...

If Djokovic surpasses or equals Fed's slam record, then we can have the discussion about him being the best of all time. He's still 5 slams away, and inching closer to 30 as each day passes, however.

I atleast saw a few points where Novak would not even make an attempt to retrieve when Goffin hit it to the other end of the court.

It was clear that Novak was not ready to give 100% which is why this is an exhibition. Come Wimbledon you'll see how dead serious the mighty warrior will become.

He had already lost the 1st set,so why extend the match to 3 sets ?I am sure that if he had won the 1st set,he would have played more seriously and won the 2nd too.No point wasting more time on court in an exhibition match!

The proof is in the pudding. If he wins Wimbledon this doesn't matter. But if he gets to Wimbledon and is not properly prepared, losing, maybe you can resurrect this thread. ;)

Personally I would take your comments a bit more seriously because you heard them in your own language and might better judge how he seemed, in context...
