I understand he used Prince Original Graphite Longbody before switching to Yonex. His first Yonex was an extended length RDX500 Midplus (98) or at least a paint job of it. He then switched to RDS001 98 in end of 06 and then to the new rds001 paint job of 2008.

Am I right with the above info? Correct me if I'm wrong.

The real question is did he really switch from RDX500 to RDS001 or has he been using a custom frame from Yonex all along? If it the later then what stiffness is his custom Yonex?

Also what is his grip size?

Thanks

Propably been an RDX500 with 28" length all along. Seen a lot of threads about his racket. No one on this forum can say for sure, or prove what it really is.

Anyways, well played in stockholm today.

Are you sure about the length it doesn't look that long on TV. Could it be 27.5"? Unless of course Nalby has big hands. Don't know for sure though.

Yes, he is only top player with "secret" racquet.

All I can say is that they string his racquet at Match Point Tennis here in Fort Lauderdale when he is in town (he has a house here) - and they tell me it is unbelievably heavy

Let's just bury the myth, guys. Nalbandian's only secret is how he plays so well with a tire on his belly. He does not have a secret frame. Tom's word is gold. If he says it's an extended RDX500 98, it is, because he's strung it. He and other pro stringers can't come on every time this comes up when folks don't search. Read here.

Bonus points to anyone who sees the humor in D. Nalbandian asking Tom what he plays with.

Being totally unfamiliar with this rod I'm just curious as to what ppl reckon to the RDX500... how does it play, etc?

Static weight - from what I heard - about 14 ounces

I wonder why he strings his racquets in Oakland Park?? you said because he owns a house in F.Lauderdale, right? There are other tennis stores in Fort Lauderdale too!
Oakland park is far up north from F.Lauderdale.

Depends on where the house is - There are many areas of Ft. Lauderdale where there are big houses on the water (ie. Bayview, Middle River etc.) that are due East of Oakland Park Blvd.

I just know what they told me.

That's what they told me as well. 400 grams or so. And that he uses Babolat Ballistic lol.

^^ Why on the but cap of Nalby's racquet is there written PS?

The "PS" is a sticker that stands for The Pro Shop in Argentina which does stringing and customization.

Sabatini has her racquets done there as well as you can see by the "PS" sticker on her racquet.

The racket has a very high swingweight indeed, but not so high when it is in Nalbandian's hands.. he holds his racket pretty high. Still high swingweight though, but not 377.
