I just got back from playing tennis ...... to find out the result of the 4th and 5th sets. Wow. Ferru! Animo!
I'm happy for him, but very sad for the Steppah. Ouch.

I know they usually do, but I don't recall a 5th match last year...

Costa's gamble has paid off. One, Ferrer won the match, and two, the tie is now more memorable than any 3 or 4 set victory.

Nope, last year there was no dead rubber. If Spain wins the doubs I guess the temptation of one extra free day will be difficult to resist for the players.

Three, Verdasco is fresh and The Sexy Worm is knackered. Couldn't have played out any better for the Spaniards, absolute success, machiavellian strategy by Costa The Shrewd.

If what you say is true, than we need to form a poll with the question-

who is the more convoluted, maniacal, and scheming machiavellian; Federer for his math genius at the WTF or Costa for his genius in adding Ferrer to the team at the DC?
 
According to Alex Corretja, who cites the Czech federation president as a source, Radek crumbled in the locker roon, saying that if he hadn't won that match he wouldn't be able to win any other... :_( Volunteers to provide consolation, write to Step, care of the CR tennis federation.

I have been thinking of starting a thread to consolidate this kind of information in several languages, so we can follow streams in different languages. In the ToDo list.

cucio and I are settling for each other with the caveat that if either one of us has a chance with The Worm we're free to leave. I believe that's the agreement.

Also I don't live in Michigan. Not that I've looked into Kentucky's archaic laws...

Sorry for my poorly worded recount of that tidbit. Radek's confidence was shot down, he lost confidence about the remaining matches, since he wasn't able to win one where he was playing some of his best tennis and had a considerable lead.

About Seffina and I, it is not a done thing, I am open to the possibility of considering her as an alternative to The Worm, but there is still the matter of the dowry to be discussed.

I think most of us probably have the Spanish and French down. And that covers most of the tour, doesn't it? Other places they usually repeat in English. But sure, it would be neat to see it all in one place.

anyone else think Davis Cup should be two singles on saturday, then doubles and 2 singles on sunday?

it would be more dramatic, potentially, and there would be more tactics relating to who was played when (would you risk a great player in the doubles knowing they had to then play later that day?), and a greater likelihood that you'd need doubles specialists/ more than two players two win the tourny, the czechs having just thrown their 2 singles guys into this.
