Looks like Querrey is going to even the match at one set all. Still, this tie with Brazil shouldn't be this close. Can anyone who has followed this tie closely comment on what's going on with the Americans? Are the Brazilians looking impressive or are the Americans giving it to them?

Bryan Bros got outplayed by Melo/Soares yesterday and Isner played poorly. Lack of energy in the building hasn't helped. This is nothing like a normal Davis Cup Tie.

Isn't Bruno/Soares actually a good doubles team on tour? Maybe I'm wrong,...
They are a good doubs team. Each member has actually won a title with a partner from another country (though I'd be hard-pressed right this minute to share who won what where).

I'm disappointed there wasn't a capacity crowd yesterday, with the Bryans playing. It was like that when I went to the exho in Miami – with A-Rod and Johnny (both of whom have lived there) and the South Americans playing, and Juanqui, I really *really* expected a big crowd … but no. I don't know what's up with the apathy.

Come on, Floridians! Support your players!

HAHA look at that fat guy sitting behind Querrey. Damn the audience looks like all fat people and rednecks

hahaha. You saw that too, eh? He was wearing an American flag bandana as well. Funny looking dude.

But, yeah. Everybody is home watching the Superbowl. I wish I had tickets and lived close to the tie. To hell with Football, I would have watched tennis.

You and me both. I mean ... people can't watch both?

Plus, that doesn't explain why people weren't there yesterday.

*shakes head at fellow Americans*

Wow, attendance was poor yesterday day as well? That is awful

You know, Andy Roddicks retirement has definitely left a mark. I remember a few years ago, the Indianapolis tournament director mentioned that Roddicks withdrawal had stunted the ticket sales badly. I don't remember attendance being this poor when Roddick and Blake were on the squad.

I don't either, but A-Rod did play in that Miami exho in November, and I was there, and I was shocked to see how terrible attendance was. Most of the audience was there supporting the Latin players, and I thought that was even worse because both A-Rod and John I. had called Florida home at one point.

I thought it was just a Miami thing -- too much Dolphins, or something. Now I'm pretty much ready to blame the state for the Bryans not doing so well yesterday (though all credit to the Brazilians -- both of them have won titles playing with people from other countries).

Can't really find somebody in our roster of players to root for. Ryan Harrison, Isner or Querrey are not an interesting bunch.

Couldn't agree with you more. As an American, I find it nearly impossible to root for anyone on that team. Sam is possibly the most boring person in the world, Isner's game is just horrible to watch and I may be in the minority but I can't stand the Bryan brothers.

I'm with you on the Bryans as well.

Harrison is a pretty interesting guy but there's just nothing to cheer about results wise for him.

Idaho seems like a strange choice for the next round of Davis Cup play for the U.S...

Can't draw any worse than Jacksonville though having Djokovic playing should be more than enough to peak interest in the local community. I don't think they'll have any problem getting the place filled up, Boise has always done well filling the stands for the NCAA Basketball Tournament too.

Boise is already buzzing about the news. Everybody in our office is getting flooded with calls, emails, etc. We have a strong local tennis community and hopefully can draw from nearby metro areas. Team actually has strong ties to the area with Courier having played several exos and the Boise State men's coach having coached some players in their junior days. Busy times for us but this is far and away the biggest tennis milestone for our community!

Jax native here. I was at the matches this weekend and the crowd was a huge disappointment. But not really a surprise. It was honestly a very tough sell in Jacksonville. Being on Super Bowl weekend did not help. No star power for either squad did not help. On local TV and radio, there was little to no talk about the Davis Cup being in town. I also don't remember seeing very much advertising.

Gasquet forfeited due to right ankle injury that went worse during his stay in Miamy. And blisters. G. Simon will replace him in the singles.

Tsonga being equal to himself. Plays with incredibly slow footwork in the first set, looses it, then leads 4-1 second set, Berlocq to serve.
