Semi-Finals set: Canada @ Serbia, Argentina @ Czech Republic

If Canada somehow advances to the Final, they would be hosts regardless of their opponent. If Serbia wins, they'd host the Czechs but would need to travel to Argentina for the Final.

The better teams can both chose courts. I think Serbia and Czech are going through pretty easily. I'm not sure what courts Serbia will pick, probably slow hard courts, which won't bother Canada that much, but the fact remains that except for Raonic and Nestor, their team isn't that great.
Djokovic and Tipsarevic are both players that should (but not always will) beat any of Canada's singles players. And then they have Zimonjic as well..

Czech is lucky they get to choose surface. They already have the better team and if they choose a fast hardcourt.. what are Monaco or Berlocq going to do against that? They'll have to let Nalbandian play and hope for the best, but it won't be enough.

I think Raonic probably beats Tipsarevic on even a slow surface based on the way Tipsy's playing this year. But yeah, if Djokovic plays Canada has no hope. The Canadian announcers were stating somewhat definitively the Serbs are putting it on clay, which makes sense.

The huge variable is Djokovic and whether he'll be healthy for a tie right after the USO. There's only 3 days between the USO final and the start of the tie. Not much time for recovery and jet-lag adjustment...Novak needing to fly across the ocean is one potential advantage for Canada of the tie being in Serbia (presumably all the Canadians will be able to arrive in Serbia well in advance).

This means GB seals a 3-2 win against Russia after coming back from 0-2 down and will now go into a playoff for the world group in September and Murray has already promised to make himself available for the team if they get there!

Well done to Ward and Evans and the doubles pairing of Fleming and Marray (the latter standing in for the absent Hutchins who is fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma). Well done also to captain Leon Smith who managed to get the team through even without Murray on board!

Things seem to be looking up for Team GB at long last!!!

vamos..and we might get spain or Switzerland in the world group play-off ..first time we overturned a 0-2 deficit since 1930 apparently.

lol matches are fixed all the time. Especially matches like this that not many people are paying attention to. Juan Monaco has been absolutely dreadful this year and it's sad if you actually believe he is legitimately beating Gilles Simon in straight sets.

so monaco can't beat simon on his fav surface, supported by 10k loudy crowd, unless the match is fixed??? please, your tennis knowledge needs an upgrade ASAP.
