They are taking a while. Ferrer is being interviewed now.
I made the point that Monaco is garbage as Federer completely exposed him as a joke at the USO. Then people on here were saying "not true, Monaco is playing well and can challenge Nadal."
Say again? Monaco is worse than manure. He has no weapons!
And there's nothing wrong with Nadal other than a bruised ego.
I prefer Ferrer but would like to see a closer tie so rooting for delpo
this is the magical injury tour...
Nadal played adequate, nothing out of the ordinary. He still hit short way too many times and his BH is bad even on this molasses surface, not good for the upcoming AO.
Monaco was above average but he has NO WEAPONS to hurt Nadal on this surface. He doesn't seem to know that dropshots exist(even with Nadal in the first row), fh is mediocre(though he can certainly hit some whoppers) and his BH is laughable. I lost track of how many BH made errors he made off a Nadal ball that was hit around the service line.
The question Nadal has to ask himself is: what happens when he meets someone with a decent BH who knows how to take his short balls and pound on them?
Monaco could do neither, hence the scoreline, he literally could do nothing to Nadal.
Hopefully Ferrer-Delpo will be more interesting.
Monaco is a good player and I admire his force of will, but for someone who should know Nadal's game inside-out he's pretty lacking when he plays him.
Had some good chances in the 3rd set when Nadal's level clearly fell (seems like Nadal can't keep his level for 3 straight sets either) but couldn't manage to capitalize on it.
Seems like the argentine's strategy backfired as well, as it didn't look like this match tired Nadal at all.
Did you even watch the match? If you did, you'd know Monaco played well.
I remember the garbage version of Djokovic with no serve taking in-form Nadal to 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 in their Davis Cup match a while back. Back when Djoker had no confidence and his game was in poor shape.
Monaco played well against Federer too at the USO.
I don't think he did as he never got going. Federer was just in the zone and wanted to get off the court quickly before the imminent rain came.
Why don't you replace Monaco's name with Federer in that sentence? Same thing.
This is such nonsense. That match was in 2009, when Djokovic pushed Nadal to the limit on clay soon after in Monte Carlo, Rome and especially Madrid.
Right. So because Federer was in the mood to go home quickly, he decided to just take care of Monaco quickly? :-? So basically Monaco had ZERO say in any of it. Which again shows that Monaco is trash! And he has no weapons. The guy got thumped by Tsonga on clay. What does that tell you?
Djokovic didn't win though. He won what...1 Masters title the whole year? Got crunched by Kohl at RG in straights. Got thumped by Haas at Wimby. Djokovic was trying to compete with no serve. Mad respect to him for still managing to finish #3 in the world.
Or if Djokovic beats him, then he'll be playing bad again or have something wrong..
anyway, was Doomsday Clarky right? I didn't see the match. I expect Monaco won easily, as Doomsday Clarky is so often correct
You don't seem to remember that Djokovic was the second most in-form player during the 2009 clay-court season going into the French Open. The Kohlschreiber loss was a big upset, overshadowed by one of the biggest upsets in tennis history the following day when Soderling beat Nadal.
Oh I wish Fed could play as many practice sets against Nadal as Pico plays during the whole season. The only practice set they have played that I'm aware of was a wooping 6-2 for Fed.
Perhaps mental block would be no more. We all know who's the better player when there is little pressure concerned.
damn.. Delpo is around 15% form... no real chance
Del Potro can beat Ferrer but it was never going to be an easy affair.
Ferrer is in great form and plays a game that can definitely give Del Po trouble... it will be an up hill battle from now on.
this game is pretty crucial..
Delpo tries his best.
Wow, so much spite from you dude. Dial it down. Just because you're upset that Rafa won, should it give you the reason to insult Monaco with so much disdain.
Geeze, some huge hitting from Delpo. Then the dropshot seals the point.
Some really hard hitting in this game... impressive how Ferrer is absorbing such pace from the baseline.
Upset? Silly, I was vocal that there was nothing wrong with Nadal despite rubbish being spewed on here about some sudden phantom shoulder injury. I said Monaco is zilch on the radar and cannot compete with the top players as Federer exposed him as a complete weakling at the USO.
I'm just confused why people were saying Monaco had any chance? He never had any game or weapons. He can't even beat Tsonga on clay. What shot did he ever have here at Davis Cup?
The ball doesn't seem to be going through the court at all despite how hard Delpo hits it.
Argentina breaks... go Del Po, time to ride on a wave of momentum now.
Besides Djoker and Fed, who do you really think has a very good shot against Rafa on clay ? And does Monaco really deserve to be called "manure and garbage" ? I'm not his fan or anything, but just saying that it's too much even for this forum. But if that's who you are then bygones.
Maybe they should sprinkle the clay with some hardcourt.
Delpo lets Ferrer creep back in..
he cannot let go 2nd set.
Well I just hope that Nadal can beat Del Potro if he has to because we will see a very depressed young man if he doesn't. Monaco was playing with all he had and the score did not reflect just how hard he fought. It was a good match and I enjoyed seeing both players
PERFECT point from Del Po to save this break point... very clutchy and well thought point construction wrong footing Ferrer 3 times...
Damn, Ferrer breaks... now things will fire up... this second set is CRUCIAL for Del Po and the argentine team as Del Po NEVER came back from 2 sets down and I doubt his first time will come now against Ferrer...
Delpo is hanging on a thread to save 2nd set.
hope Ferrer will let him
5-4 Spain... next game will be a ton of pressure on Del Po.
Del Po is returning far too distant from the baseline... that's giving Ferrer the initiative, he should definitely step in and start to control on return. Can't let Ferrer have easy games on his serve...
Incredible gets by Ferrer to save the breakpoint...
Awesome slow mo of Ferrer sliding.
6-6. This Davis cup might well be decided by the following tiebreaker.
the girlz in red on court are watchable
better than BOSS
 Nadal plays clay court indoors. No wonder he had so much trouble. As if moonballing from 10 feet back is the way to win the WTF. Moonballing off the backhand side too!
Perfect for clay though. No possible way for any player to hit through that slow clay when the moon balls are dropping shoulder high. It's a grinding battle. The better grinder wins.
4-2 Del Po... still with a mini break.
Ferrer double faults to give Delpo set point... 6-2.
DelPo wins the second set 7-6 (2).
REALLY important set for Del Po and the argentine team. Things are far from over now and there's still hope for the argentines.
What a great atmospere. Costa looks ilke a general. Linejudges are terrible. Delpo needs to use dropshots, Ferrer is playing very far from the baseline. Argentina looks poised for revenge, but Spain is certainly a favourite.
BTW it's 1 set all.
Bad start from Delpo at the thrid set... Ferrer starts breaking 1-0.
Suddenly Ferrers go on the attacking taking ball on the rise and breaks Delpo's serve. I bet there was a hint from Spain's captain
Delpo has a break point
Ferrer stepping it up again
This is the real final.
LOLWUT, Ramos called a wrong "not up" just under his nose. Umpiring is not what it used to be, nowadays not even Mo is reliable.
I love that big group of argies in the crowd. Long way to travel!
LOL, lady luck on Delpo's side, 3-3.
Separate names with a comma.
