France will play with Pouille, Simon, Mahut and Benneteau (Chardy is in the group as well as the fifth man).
Tsonga not playing for family reasons, Monfils injured and Gasquet had to undergo surgery (appendicitis).

Great Britain will be without A. Murray (elbow injury). The team will play with Edmund, Evans, J.Murray and Inglot.

Enjoy.

P-H Herbert is out as well.

Interesting matchup. Both have a top doubles player in Murray and Mahut. France would appear to have the edge in singles but Pouille and Simon have both been playing poorly with only one win between them at IW/Miami (Pouille losing twice to Donald Young and Simon losing 6-1, 6-1 to Struff). Evans and Edmund both have significant Davis Cup experience.

Here's something that could be an issue for GB: according to ATP data the last time Dan Evans played a clay court match was May 2015 at a Futures tournament in Egypt.

Simon should beat Edmund & Evans. Doubles will be close, but Brits could win now that France's best pair have been split up. All comes down to whether Edmund & Evans can get wins against Pouille. Can see Kyle pulling it off, but Evans on clay ... bloody hell.

Don't fancy our chances, but at least we're guaranteed another year in the World Group.

Too close to call really. France slight favourites. Can't expect anything from Evans, so got to hope Edmund has his working shoes on.

Noah said Chardy seemed to have adapted more quickly in training for the series on indoor clay, saying that "it was not an easy choice, but I preferred to make it quite quickly."

Simon is ranked 30 and has more experience than Chardy, who is ranked 68 and has played only three Davis Cup matches, winning all three in singles.

"Gilles has always supported us. He's been a part of every adventure since I've been captain," Noah said on Wednesday. "He's always been irreproachable and has a lot of class. It's never nice (to leave someone out) but it's part of my job."

If anyone can figure out a way to lose this, it's the French DC team. I picked GB but will have my eye on USA vs AUS this weekend mainly.

that's what happens when you eat too much French bonbons and enjoy the good life all the time. USA vs Nick Kyrios should be the BEST match up of this quarterfinal ties.

I'm looking forward to both of the Kyrgios singles matches. Sam "The Destroyer" Querrey is playing in the doubles and could cause damage even though Australia has the best doubles player in the world.

Why aren't the Bryan Brothers playing doubles? Too lazy to play for their country and Steve Johnson and Querrey are probably better doubles team anyway.

What ?? lol. I thought Nicolas Mahut was the best doubles player ??

Bryans aren't playing because they were not picked by the captain. USA captain wanted Singles guys just in case Sock or Isner gets injured then he can sub in Johnson or even better Querry.

Evans is an all court / serve and volley player so clay isn't the best surface for him.

I feel he can have a brilliant grass season though by his standards.

This was so stupid to leave out Simon from the singles.

Noah will pay for this. He is already in press conferences saying France may not win now and this is going to be tough to take the pressure off himself.

What is this craps about Simon not adapting quickly enough in the indoor clay training preparation?!?!?!?!

So now playing the deciding Davis Cup single he has Chardy under massive pressure playing for the favourites against Edmund with a huge claycourt style forehand that will rally with heavy topspin all day and overwhelm Chardy.

What the heck ? Jack Sock somehow found a way to lose the 1st set to Jordan Thompson............LOL. if he chokes away 1 match then USA has no chance

it started already... What happened to Daviscup.TV ?? it was pay site but I didn't mind it. Now, it is Gone ???????????????

Davis Cup TV and also Davis Cup radio has been removed as well. Davis Cup radio was free and excellent. They couldn't figure out a way to monetize it so it was dropped.

What happened to Kokkinakis ? wasn't he supposed to be the next superstar after Kyrios ?

I think the Australians figure Kokkinakos is too hopeless to play for Australia, even in doubles. Jordan Thompson is a better player imo and Kokk has been injured.

Pouille and Chardy too strong for the Brits. Not a real surprise, especially on clay, Pouille is a handful for anyone and Chardy is never a 68 in the world when he plays to his potential.

Burned to a crisp at the stake!

Is it burned or burnt? I'm never quite sure, or maybe they're used interchangeably.

Edit - Just did a quick search, apparently they are both acceptable past tense forms of the ver burn, but where you're from says more about which word you use. In Great Britain they tend to use burnt more often than burned, and here in the States, we tend to use burned more often.
