davis cup suggestions

davis cup format should change from 5x5 (ie 5 matches each one consisting of 5 sets) to 3x3 (3 matches each one consisting

of 3 sets, 2 singles and one double). if the team has won first 2 matches, the last match remeaning should not be played

davis cup schedule schould reduce from 4 weeks to one week only like ATP World tour finals

Federer, djokovic and nadal have played loads of ties for their country..look at djokovic the other day he said if it wasn't davis cup but a regular tourney he have retired..

so apart from everyone giving a damn about the davis cup..then, yes..no one gives a damn about the davis cup. :neutral:

They should just hold it every other year. Would give it more prestige and make it a bigger deal when its on and the defending champions won't have to defend their title after like two months as it is now.

Very obviously Davis Cup takes a week of effort and sharp concentration. An exo can take as little at 36 hours and the effort - physically and mentally - minimal.

I don't think there should be any changes to Davis Cup. I just think more players should take more pride in their country other than just the olympics.

I live to watch Davis Cup, and the atmosphere is extremely intense.

This explains why your opinions are so skewed. A lot happens outside of the 8 weeks in which you're tuned in to professional tennis.

Davis Cup is, from where I sit, an excellent opportunity for professional tennis players to take a break from the intensely lonely nature of the game and have teammates to train and play with. It's nice to see the camaraderie that develops.

As for top players "not caring"...that's simply not true. Many of them may take a break from a particular tie if they feel that their team can handle business without them. Regardless, the World Group countries usually have their biggest guns on hand. France, Argentina, Serbia, and Spain usually have their best players present.

At the end of the day, there's a lot of opinions going both ways. I just love the format and would like to see it stay as it is.

OP, if you don't care about anything other than the Majors, why make suggestions in the first place?
