I'd love to trade this whole Davis cup thing for an extra grand slam or even a masters.

Maybe convert it to something similar to the Olympics form, held 3 from 4 years with the Olympics the 4th. Give it some points like Olympics and some minor prize money to cover the event including, players, partners, coach, etc. The Davis Cup is proving to be too much of a commitment throughout the year for the top players, some points would definitely assist.
