Lmao, why is Andy Murray jumping up and down as if this is one of the biggest most important matches he's going to play, when in reality it's going to do absolutely nothing for his legacy.

Obviously because he really cares about DC. If Murray didn't give a damn about it, he wouldn't be jumping up and down like that. Funny how there seems to be a link between highly demonstrative behaviour and giving a damn.

I don't get Clément. He's as dense as Tsonga if not even denser. Go to the semis at the very least is expected considering the pool of French players.
1) vs. Switzerland: Monfils was the right choice against a then injured Federer. However, he then sends an injured Tsonga. Turned out pretty well to say the least. Gasquet, who had pushed Wawrinka to 5 sets in the past was the obvious choice to even make it competitive.
2) vs. GB right now: Well it should've been Simon/Gasquet; but let's say for convenience Gasquet is injured for singles (foot apparently). Mahut/Herbert in doubles or at the very least Mahut/Gasquet in doubles: after watching Tsonga's singles match, it should've been obvious that this guy, to take a football (read: not handegg) expression: "he never pull his head up". Dude has no tactical awareness whatsoever, you can't pick him up to play doubles after his singles display. His volleys are decent, his returns non-existent, his touch nowhere near good enough: only his serve remains.
3) vs. Germany: I don't know how the hell it went to the 5th match when both Haas and Kohlschreiber weren't there and don't get me started on that.

Does Tsonga pays his bills or something?

Mahut played an awful game in Tsongas first service game of the 5th. A simple missed smash at 30-30, then just knocked a volley up in the air for GB to knock off on break point. He then lost his own serve to love. I don't think the loss was Tsongas fault.

Man Arnaud Clément will get crapped on for his questionable decision to put Tsonga in the doubles match and it's 2 years in a row where France will lose it solely based on Tsonga's sucky performance.

Both Davis Cup has been lost because of Tsonga and only Tsonga.

I feel a little sorry for him at the moment.

Considering Ward's match won't matter unless there's a blue moon tonight, Clément has two choices there.
1) Pull out Simon, who doesn't have the weapons to hurt Murray in favour of the allegedly injured Gasquet who is on form and has pushed Murray in the past albeit without winning.
2) Hope Simon pulls a miracle, which is about as likely as Gasquet winning.

Gasquet still has a better chance than Gilles
The Rotterdam match is not relevant at all, before that match Andy was beating Simon every time they would meet.
Gasquet is fresh (not much information about a possible injury), Andy will have to play 3 matches in 3 days...you never know I reckon Gasquet would have a chance. Simon, not.

Gasquet has been carrying the foot injury since before the Wawrinka match at Wimbly. He told Bartoli about it and she revealed it on air even though Gasquet told her not to.

Well gun on my head I'd bet on Gasquet. But since I don't have a gun on my head, I'm not going to bet on either.

It might be an injury he'd prefer to rest, but would also like to win Davis Cup, so would be able to play on it if required. He managed to play on it against Wawrinka, so maybe not a big deal.

Why is Inglot even in the squad? He keeps getting dumped for the doubles in favour of Andy who is in danger of injuries & burnout if they keep using him like this.

Presumably just to keep the French guessing, and also in case Murray did have an injury or had a long match yesterday. Ward is entirely useless at doubles, so he's never an option. It's a shame there isn't another decent singles player who is also solid at doubles, but for all that the UK is overwhelmed with decent doubles players, only Andy Murray seems to be good at both.

Must be soul destroying though-you are a doubles specialist getting dropped for a singles player. It screams that management have no faith in you.

Inglot played in the tie against the US, mainly because Wardy beat Isner, so they could afford to rest Andy.
Playing Singles players instead of specialist double players is all over the Davis cup.
Fed and Wawa, last year, and when has Tonga been a specialist doubles player.
I am sure Inglot will get over it.
The only way to change that is to change the rules of the Davis cup allow a bigger team, and not allowing singles players to pay doubles and visa-versa
I do feel sorry for France because they have a greater depth of good players, unfortunately not one outstanding.
Still pleased GB won thou.

He's probably grateful he made the line-up. GB has got loads of 'quite good' doubles players to pick from, and the fact is he has been injured, and not shown much form since, which he will have noticed. They might have played him if he'd had a better grass court season, but he didn't, and both Murray brothers are good on grass and have won tournaments together.

He's not stupid, so he'll have noticed that he's not at good at tennis as Andy before today. The fact that top singles players can push regular doubles specialists with higher doubles rankings out of draws at the last minute is going to be more soul destroying for a player in his situation.

^^andy has soft hands..he should use volleying more in singles.
I think he will do in future, all that baseline bashing age 28+ can't be fun, esp after his back injury.

Does Simon have any chance against Andy ????????? LOL. and why is Gasquet not playing ?? Richard seem to avoid all the big matches ..... He did the same thing against USA. he told the captain he can't play because of injury
